Hissing sound is the initial stage of leaking but still can tahan... fyi service coil is using the term of using chemical but infact is class 3 acid to clear the coil but at times some mechanic tends to overlook the timing for the acid to work its way into the coil so tend to damage the coil ... i have done replacement for a few latio n most of the time the coil is the main issue.

another sign to watch out: you are easily short of breath or sleepy after you drive for some time which never happen before.

Better change the coil else you inhale the aircond gas.

I suspecting my latio has coil leakage problem too.
Aircon was blowing hot air until i top up the gas on 1/1/2011. Today, the car starts blowing hot air again.
However, the warranty has over expired since June 2010 and i have not been servicing in TC.
Appreciate if someone can recommend a workshop to check and possibly replace the coil. Thank

1) i got this Hissing sound whenever i start my aircon + engage D or R gear..

If i set my fear to Neutral + switch on air con>> no hissing sound..

Is this a sign of cooling coil Dying???

2) at my vehicle commander seat (passenger seat), there is alway this "knocking" sound coming out from the Within the dashboard  whenever i am going at 80km/h

I have remove all items in the my glove compartment, coins/drinks compartment (infront of the gear) and the comparment above radio.. .. STILL GOT that sound leh.

any gurus know what is the cause???

it takes them about 5hrs to finish the job. U can request to see the spoilt parts. There are some small holes in my old cooling coil due to condensation over the years thus creating the hissing sound. If u are attentative enough u can smell some refrigerator gas coming out from the air con vent. To put it simple. gas leak.

Thanks bro, I sent mine to Mark Cool at Woodlands as it was nearer for me in Mandai. Mine also cooling coil leak, but it only took them an hour to replace, vacuum and renew ac gas.

I think not all will get it, especially now they have promo on the aircon coil. Also must be handsome....  ;D

PS, to add they also change the "Thermostat amplifier Sensor" which cost $40++. So the actual cost for the change in aircon coil is around $400...
