how would you engage L gear?

do you engage L gear when the car is stationery (from P), or when the car is in motion (from D)?

thanks

Hi,

I will use L gear when i am climbing slope on D.
When there not enought power.

Or coming down a long slope, as i don want to over heat my brake.
Use L gear as engine brake.

To change to L from D, please make sure your Latio is at very slow speed 20 to 30 KM/h.
As changing to L from D, from high speed will actually spoilt your transmission.

Hope it help

When going up steep slopes, I just depress the pedal more, downshift is automatic.

I agree with the rest you said though.

Did you feel the engine brake at work?

L gear engine brake limit speed to around 30km/h at most, for me on 4AT.

If you go down MSCP at 10km/h, you won't feel the engine brake i.e no difference between L and D.
Try it on a steeper slope, and you'll really feel the effect.

Bro,

There no diff in Singapore multi story car park.
Cos not steep enough la.

You may try at the industrial type multi story.
Which you may have to travel down from Level 8 to level 1 all the way.
eg: Woodland Spectrum, toh guan or Yishun YS one building type.
Which have a circular ramp type.

Or try it out at Mt Faber la.

You will learn to appreciate L gear.
