Help: "Check Engine Light" on - carbon build up in exhaust
« on: March 03, 2010, 09:35:48 AM »
morning. hope to get some advise about my car problem.  TC said that there is carbon build up in the exhaust.  they have to change the sensor and by doing so, they'll have to change the entire manifold.  all will come up to about $900++.  they managed to make the light go away yesterday but this morning it came on again.  spoke to anor SA who said that i can continue driving the car and gave some driving tips that may help to "loosen" the carbon.  $900++ is a big sum for me so i'm hoping to get some other opinions from this forum.  thanks. :(

hi bro,
What is yr mileage?
U drive more in city (lots start/stop)?
$900 is  a lot of $$...
Like some bro mentioned,
try 'clear carbon' on highway,
maybe it will work.

Good luck

just wack the damn engine.

problem is people keep on driving at low rpms, and constant driving habits and totally forget to really REV the engine.

the redline is there for a reason, to reach it.

cheers.

Yeah.  This is what i normally do.  Once a while bring car to NSH,

drive 110 - 130km/hr for continuous of 2 hrs, all carbon will be gone......

just wack the damn engine.

iayo... dirty just go workshop to decarbon. Don't have to burn extra $$$ on NSHW. It only endanger yourself and other road users who just want to go reach destination safely. But if you burn carbon at PG then  一人做事, 一人当。

Can go Kaki bukit viaduct to climb a few times using sport mode. It will help. But watch out for TP.

Where is CCK 18 tiang?  :confused1:

But whacking the damm engine also has impact on the gearbox. Worried about the CVT gearbox. 4AT still not so bad...  ::)
