Uncomfortable Latio Seat
« on: May 15, 2010, 09:38:16 PM »
Anyone find our latio seat uncomfortable? i realised when compared to all my previous rides, the seat is damn uncomfortable. The lower back support is curved in and does not support the lower back, as such it is damn uncomfortable when sitting on the seat for long rides.

I have resorted to using tempur lumbar support but realised it is too small and does not provide enough support. In the end, i use the $1.90 small cushion from ikea as a support as it is bigger and more filling and provide enough support.

Anyone experience the same problem and got any solution to solve this issue?

For me I find the Latio's alcantra seats very comfortable. Much more comfy than leather. Comfortable with relaxing seating position you won't get crams even when driving to Penang straight compared to my other car - Lancer EX GT foot, butt, neck all ach after just 2 hours of drive thanks to it's hard semi bucket seats  :crying:

But then I really find that there's not much support from the seats. Not body hugging enough. I even prefer the seats from my previous ride - 2002 Sunny Luxury Edition

Any Latio drivers here <1.8m tall? Another 'defect' with the seating position is that my left knee tend to be too close to the central console (aircorn unit area). I have to shift the chair quite far back to avoid my knee pressing on the corner of the centre console which to me does not allow me to have the best driving position I'd like. Design flaw if you'd ask me. Can't imagine what'll happen to my knee in a crash   :scared:

As for me, I'm standing 1.85m tall. So far I think that the seats are very comfortable. Try Mitsubishi Lancer GLX, Honda City (older model) or even Toyota Vios (older model), they are even worse. No complain on my seat!

What's next???

i am 1.83m. i find the material of the seat very good, but just somehow find that the lower back is not properly supported. In fact the seat cushion is more protuding out at the higher back position and the lower back portion is concave inwards, leaving a gap between my lower back and the seat cushion, thus not been supported and thus to be uncomfortable.

Sunny, starlet, altis and GE fit's seat all din have this issue lei. Or is there a level to push the lower back support out? Cos i notice altis got this type of feature.

Try using a small cushion or a lumbar support to solve this issue. i using tat now, but trying to find out whether there's better alternative to solve this issue and whether i am only the one with this issue.

i suddenly thought of going to those custom made seat shop and ask whether possible to insert sponge into the lower back portion of the seat. Got to noe of all these shops when i mod my bike last time, now wondering whether can do the same to the car seat a not. Will pop by the shop one of these days and enquire. Anyone tried this method?

Tried asking a couple of seat shops regarding adding cushions to have it more body hugging. Was told not possible as new leather wrap around seat would not be nice anymore since it's custom made

it is actually a head restraint and not a head rest
Be safe. Go with the flo.
