just curious... if the CVT is "damaged" beyond economical repair and costs too much to replace, can we replace it with the AT gearbox?

i've met a driver who changed his Civic's gearbox legally (he said need to register at LTA) from AT to manual, dunno if from CVT to AT also same same

appeal in a sense of lower cost eg. labour, parts.....

my ride oso coming to 5yrs......can't imagine of same problem.......i remembered Nissan USA got 10yrs warranty on the CVT gearbox.....to the extent that those who repaired out of own pocket for the CVT before warranty in place can get full refund....

but of course we here LLST.....

Jus asking..do you shift your gear from D to N very often? i heard that if you do that often, you gear box will get spoilt easily. wonder how true is it as i often change for D to N when i stop at traffic light. quite worry if that is true

Thks for all the advise...I will go Khangs to check out...As for my driving,i don't put N or P when i am waiting at the traffic lights as i know for auto cars it is unwise to do so. Normally i am always in D position unles i park my car den i put to P.

Hope my problem can resolve soon....Pocket burning a big hole again...

recently i also notice that when move off, the gear shift from 1st to 2nd abit slow response and there seems to be jerking before shifting higher gear....

wondering if this is also a sign of gearbox going up lorry....

Btw: my ride also coming 5yrs & 120K km....i service my car regularly at interval of 10K km and sticking to manufacturer's manual of changing all fluid

I was talking to the TCM service engineer asking him about common "old age" problems for latio  (mine 4 yrs and counting), he mentioned CVT failure as the most common, and he says CVT replacement costs 17K !!
so i say how many latio owners choose to go ahead and cough up the 17K, he suggest go scrap yard and buy second hand latio CVT.

I think we better start to setup a marketplace to see which latio owner going to scrap their car ...  match with those with CVT failures.

I really hope mine can last at least 8 -9 years, cannot afford 17K or a new ride !

If CVT failures are very common and very costly to replace, why are so many bros not taking up extended warranty after the 3rd year either from TCM or others??? As my company, Terminal 2 International LLP, has tied up with Kar Engineering Pte Ltd for the TWM Extended Warranty, some of the bros driving Latio have already signed up with me either on 1 or 2 years or longer for their car's extended warranty.

The price for 1 year TWM Extended warranty is only $500, 2 years for $850 and so on. This small amount of $$$ is not even enough to cover the labour charges for repairing/replacing your CVT gearbox and yet, when it comes to breakdown, you don't have to fork out a big sum of $$$ to repair or replace your CVT gearbox.

As the matter of fact, getting extended warranty for your Latio is like buying life or medical insurance for yourself, to prevent yourself from paying a huge amount of $$$ to repair & replace in future. Why wait until a major problem to come?

Now I will offer a free thorough 1 hour car checkup at Kar Engineering Pte Ltd for pre-purchase requirement for TWM Extended Warranty to know your car existing problem if any. All you need is to provide me your full name, contact number, vehicle model and registration number to my email at: jmktang@yahoo.com or contact me at: 9852 4328.

I will arrange the schedule with you for the checkup soon after. Why do you have to worry breakdown since your car is covered from major breakdown especially for this coming school holidays driving to our northern neighbour, West Malaysia, as it provides free towing service back to Singapore as well?

More information on TWM Extended Warranty at: http://forum.thelatioclub.org/index.php?topic=10232.0

Please feel free to get back to me if you have further enquiry on my products and services.

Best regards,
Johnny

Any further discount if i am EPS member? Quite interested but as I am still under NPMP(1 more servicing), so put on hold.

1 year = $500 or 25000km
2 year = $850 or 50000km
3 year = $1200 or 75000km
5 year = $1750 or 125000km

Does this means we die die have to go back kar engineering for servicing, will the servicing cost be higher and are the technicians there familiar with latio?

Hi David,

Thanks for your enquiry.

Maybe you can go for your car warranty test after your last NPMP servicing and purchase TWM Extended Warranty if your car is in good condition without major issue after the test. As you have purchased UTR Power Charger Evo Series and signed up as EPS member, you are entitled a 5% rebate from your purchase of TWM Extended Warranty through my company, Terminal 2 International LLP.

In fact, Kar Engineering Pte Ltd has appointed over 20 workshops around Singapore to service their TWM cars in order to valid their TWM Extended Warranty program. ComfortDegro workshops are among the workshops appointed.

Of course, as an EPS member with us, the cheapest basic servicing at Kar Engineering Pte Ltd in Sin Ming Drive is less than $100 with their in-house fully synthetic engine oil from USA, original oil filter and 25 points check but you must come to my office to collect the voucher for this special price for basic servicing as a member. Furthermore, as our member, you can also bring your own engine oil and parts and go to Kar Engineering Pte Ltd to service, you only need pay for the labour charges there.

Currently, the website on Kar Engineering Pte Ltd on TWM Extended Warranty is undergoing upgrading until July 2010. You can check out more information on TWM Extended Warranty at: http://warranty.com.sg/Silver_Warranty.pdf

Please feel free to get back to me again if you have further enquiries on my products and services.

Best regards,
Johnny
