CVT locked at Lower gear
« on: July 25, 2010, 06:31:41 PM »
Hi, today I have a strange experience with the CVT gear.
I was at traffic light. When the light turn green, I accelerate. But today, I accelerated a litter harder as I need to overtake the bus on the left, so that I can make a left turn on the next junction. The rpm went up to 3k as I accelerate. But while the rpm still at 3k, I released the accelerator, filter left, break and stop at the junction. When I released the accelerator, I noticed the rpm remained at 3k, doing the engine break. I felt strange.
Then, when I turned left to the main road an accelerate, the rpm stayed at 3k. My speed was like stuck at 30-40 kmph. I step and let go, but the gear seemed to be locked at lower gear. I was a little panic, so I shift the gear to L, drove for a few seconds and shifted it back to D.
Thank god, after I shifted to D, the gear went back to normal, just before I joined the expressway.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Is this normal for CVT or some how the computer was "ki siau" thinking I need power?
I usually drive softly. Today is one rare occasion that I step hard.
Thanks.
