Aircon blowing hot air, hissing sound and dripping water
« on: October 31, 2010, 10:20:10 PM »
something wrong with my aircon unit in my near 4 yrs old Latio.

i have ensured all my aircon settings are set properly, but my air that blows out from the aircon unit is hot air, regardless of the temp set.

Also, everytime the aircon is switched on, there will be a hissing sound.

Lastly, upon parking the car, water will drip from the car underneath centre console area.

I am currently under TCMP, and have booked a servicing next week.

Do you guys what may be the problem, so that i will not get smoked by the TC agent.
Also, roughly how much will be the repair costs under the TCMP? ?

i done some research here, and it seems that such aircon problems may surface after they perform aircon flushing. Not sure if this applies to my case though.

Pls advise. Thank you.

My Latio had the exact same symptoms a few weeks ago and sent it to TCM. They tell me my condensor coil kaput so they changed that plus some sensor. Now everything ok, liao.

Sorry i dunno the cost as my car is under warranty so this was done FOC.

I think some water dripping is normal due to condensation.
But if there is hissing sound, and your aircon is now blowing hot air, it means there is a leak in your system.

You should ask TC if it is covered under TCMP and if not, how much they quote?
If you go outside workshop, you can get cooling coil replaced for $400+.

Went in n out of TC many times....under warranty

Pay half price for filter....because not within warranty...
Change air con filter every 20-30k km (DIY)
Now at 4 yrs old n 130k km...aircon not that cold again...

Good luck bro

hai..had the same prob with hissing sound..hot air..no gas..i went to check..one workshop says coil leaking..mus change coil, valve total $750..2nd time went tomika for opinion, the uncle never check n based on what i said, he also said coil leaking n commented usually latio's coil leaking..cost $450 + gst to change..

lastly a workshop recommended by a fren said no leaks (he uses a machine to do vacuuming of the gas out), jus do aircon servicing + flushing can already..i wonder how this fixture can last..probably a month before the gas "leaks" again..

now in a dilemma..haiz..

wow..autosaver's maintenance servicing package seems good n affordable..now tc has jacked up the service package prices again..maybe be going there to seek a second opinion..anybody has tried the servicing there? or any particular workshop to recommend?

I dun think i'll be going bk to TC for servicing already after the price hike from them..dun think they include aircon flushing in their package too..:(

i am a regular at Autosaver Defu...serviced my sunny & latio there after the 1st 3 free servicing from TCM......servicing not bad and can see what the mechanic is doing....only once did they used the wrong grade of oil I specified and they promptly refund the difference....can see then can know that it is wrong type....another occassion is change of thermostat...waited for 4hrs as the mechanic ordered the thermostat without the housing....then they drove down to the shop to get the housing....

overall my rating for them is 8.5/10....cos dun have nice cosy lounge....though it is fully aircon.....

I'm having the same problem.....at time it blow air only after a long halt like in traffic jam, causeway jam in hot day. Check with S.A. and they told me the compressor going to spoilt.
