Please help - AirCon Not Cold
« on: April 25, 2011, 10:39:31 PM »
Hi,

Usually, when I press the air-con button, it will give a "tuk" sould and a short "hissing" sound.

Today, I no longer hearing the above sounds and my air-con is blowing warm air.

What could be the problem ? My Latio is coming to 5 years

- Compressor spoilt ?
- Coil leak ?
- run out of gas ?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Just a quick check before you send it to workshop.

Check the AC button. Is it on?

I think my ride has similar problem too, 5.2 years.

During hot days and stationary, it blows hot air, when moving at 2k rpm, the a/c blows warm air.

No problem when the day is cooler, such as rainy day or night time, a/c very cold.

Advice please!

May we know what temp you set ? Maybe you can try to set to lower temp than your current temp to see if there any diff.

Ah forgot to mention, my temp setting is always 22c. Last time no problem, hot day with 22c also cool, now...not so anymore.

Will give your suggestion a try, may be drop to 18c and see if its help!

Good to hear that. $440 indeed very reasonable. Nowadays, weather so hot, got to spend the money.

Hi Hammer,

Do you know when the seasonal campaign ends? I may send mine to them next week.

Which branch have you send your to? And how long does it takes?

Thanks

Hi wrxykh,

If you know any of the SA from your previous servicing with TC, if not their contact numbers are available on TC webpage.

Call them, enquire on the seasonal campaign and make appointment. In this case, you may be able to reserve the current price, even

you send in your car in the month of May.

Hi Hammer,

Thanks. Went to TC and check, the SA said they have plenty of stocks, so not to worry.

He has done a simple diagnosed to my air con, and advice me to top up the gas and monitor.

That was exactly what I've done and now my air con is damn cool now :) Well, I will monitor for a few months, if not cool, then confirm somewhere is leaking gas!

Cheers

Hi all,

My 4+ yrs old Latio aircon is failing me as well.
Hot days not cold, nights are all right.
Even if I lower till 19 deg on hot days, it is not cold also.

Can I know, if i go TCM to ask them to check/diagnose, do they charge?
How much do they charge if I ask for gas topup?

Thanks in advance  ;)

fessm,  don't waste money to topup, evaporator has started to leak. "Hot days not cold, nights are all right" is one of the tell-tail sign.  Try listen to the gaseous sound inside your cabin, this is another sign of insufficient gas.  Mine got the these two signs and after changing the evaporator, the aircon back to normal, 23 to 24 degrees were cold enough during the hot day.  Maybe ask them to open up the area to see evaporator any sign showing it is leaking before dismantling it. (greenish sticky liquid at the sides of the evaporator).  Decide fast, before it affect other parts, such as your compressor.

hallo bros.

sorry to dig up old thread but it seems like my a/c also up lorry liao.

last night tried to turn on the aircon and faced the following problems:

1. when turn on the fan, there is a "tuk" sound. A/C button was lited and air was on circulating

2. the hissing sound came on, but it never stopped.usually the hiss will stop after 3-4secs and subsequently cold air is felt

3. then the cold air never came even after 10 mins of drive on the road

am probably gonna call up the tcm SA and see if the 'seasonal package of $440' is still available. any bros took up the package and had theirs changed in tcm in the last month or so? pls share your exp?

thanks!

Hi. I was in Genting when my Aircon failed me. It suddenly don't blow cold air anymore.

Some details:
1) Aircon blowing but hot air.
2) press a/c button got the tuck tuck sound, meaning the switching is ok right
3) day or night, always hot air
4) at KL outskirt, got it inspected at a local workshop. Boss say got gas, likely compressor spoilt. Is it true?

Do u have any workshop to recommend???
