Hi All,

I changed my car battery at TCM to maintenance free in May 2010.

I occasionally forget to turn off the interior lights (between the driver and the front passenger) over the night and have no problem starting my car the next morning until yesterday.

Is it because the life span of this maintenance battery that I have changed at TCM is coming to an end?

How do i determine whether is battery an issue?

Thanks alot in advance for your advice.

Likely the battery lifespan is over.....i changed my MF battery at AS in Apr 2010 and dead in Jul 2011....prior to that was using AAS Amaron MF battery for 3.5yrs.....

for my car, the symptoms were weak cranking, a/c AUTO button cannot activate immediately when engine start....

changed back to AAS Amaron MF battery in Jul 2011 for $138 with gst with their roadside assistance....

Normal MF battery can only last 1 yr plus abit, tats y if u change at TC, they will give 1 yr warranty. The original MF battery that comes with the car and the premium ones like Amaron n Varta can last longer.

sorry i m not AAS member so i dun know wat battery they provide. i have been getting normal MF battery (mostly korean or thai made eg. Yuasa n hyundai) for around $90 at tyre shop n they usually last slightly more than a year. $90 - normal n $138 - premium because its like $48 difference, make sense? the battery that TC provides seems more like normal than premium, but at a premium price.

For those who buy your car insurance from Aviva, it includes free roadside assistance. I signed up for AA membership last year b4 buying Aviva so LPPL. Could have saved some $$$.....

U can either fix a digital voltmeter to check e voltage of ur car if not manually check e condition of ur batt usin a voltmeter.

Aviva insurance is expensive......

Not for me - $800 with 30% NCB. Aviva is even cheaper than sgdirect for me.

I get at least 4 quotes b4 i renew my insurance. This is the 2nd year in a row that Aviva is cheapest for me.

my post is not to "burst your bubble".
in the event of a claim with Aviva (Touch wood).Make sure your car are using stock items.  Rim, controller, etc.

My battery went dead late yesterday night after I left the radio on for less than 15 minutes after turning off the engine.

Activated my MSIG insurance roadside assistance service and get the battery replaced. The new battery I am using now is Amaron Hi-life 55B24L.

Damage: $130 (Battery) + $30 (roadside assistance).

Is the amount above reasonable?

Previously use Varta asia dynamic lasted me for 36 mths, after changed to Varta again but to blue dynamic coz asia dynamic discontinued liao... This time it only lasted for 14 mths before it went dead on me. Initially i still tot dat it was è alternator dat was not chargin coz i din expect è batt to hv such short lifespan, warranty given was 12 mths.
