I experienced the "chit" sound after i changed drive belt for the very first time. I bought original nissan, but written on it was Made in Indonesia. Next 2 belts i changed, both also mitsuboshi, made in japan. After a while the "Chit" sound came back. I asked the mechanic to tighten the belt, but after a while it came back again. Even my mechanical engr friend who took a ride from me told me that it is not normal with the "Chit" sound. 3 weeks ago, my friend told me he actually changed the bearing and the black colour cap(pulley) holding the bearing. So i asked mechanic to change the bearings and the black colour cap. He actually changed 2 pulleys, one is at the water pump and the other is the free rolling pulley. Till now no "Chit" sound. My mileage now about 78K and car is 3.25 yrs old. BTW, i need to maintain the car in top condition because when i travel to KL and beyond, i went around 5pm to avoid the jam, and it is still dark for the next 1.5 hrs drive. BTW, i hope our fellow Lations who are mechanical engineers can throw some light about this. Cheers.
