Poor fuel consumption after flusing
« on: April 04, 2013, 03:15:12 PM »
Hi All,
Recently did servicing at my regular workshop at Sin Ming Autocare. Did the following:
1. Engine oil change
2. Flushing
3. Battery change

It has been 2 weeks and i realise that the fuel consumption drops drastically. Is that normal? Use to be around 380km full tank. Now drop to around 320km. Is that normal. Mechanic told me it takes a few rounds of petrol refilling before it will goes back to normal. He also mention if fault persist, it could due to the transmission oil or gear box issue.

Any advice pls?

What is the grade of oil used?

380km for full tank is very low...mine is around 550km....just pumped Shell95 last night...travelled 421.6km (with 1/4 tank left) & pumped 30.01litres...that is my average FC of 14km/litre

I am light footed and using 0W40 grade engine oil....

I also do flushing every 10K km as my usual favourite engine oil comes bundle 3 in 1....flush + oil + treatment

Hope this helps....

I just brought this used '07 Latio CVT in Feb, Mileage about 138K.
Drove for 1 month, my FC about 12.5 km/l.
Recently did my engine flush and oil change(5w40). Few days back do the Throttle Body cleaning, cause morning engine start-up RPM hit 2.5k to almost 3K.
Now found that FC is improving, 3/4 tank meter read about 400+km.
Pumping ESSO 95.

Mine is quite bad.. Light foot plus using e-throttle set to Eco mode. Pump with shell 98 , Mileage at 330-350 for rough 35l top up.. 05' latio.

Mine is a 06 Latio. 3 more years to go. Suspect gearbox issue as well as it will give a cranky sound when traveling at 1500-1800rpm. But ok when it hits 2k rpm

Full tank for 350L too low liao unless you're having heavy foot.

For mine, 3/4 tank with Esso 95, '08 old car using 0W30 with mostly highway able to hit at least 420km.

Try not to move off with flooring the accelerator, unless you using V-power  ;D
