dun waste the money to take the open cat unless u dun have to top up which i presume not possible and u have to look at which month the open cat belong to then u will know how much the cat A value for ur car.

In your other post, you mentioned something like "it looks like many people are not accepting the Open Category".  Are you being offered the Open Cat too?  If so, what's the disadvantage in accepting the Open Category?

i was offered open cat at 13k+. was told by my SE no need to top up. most pple dun wan to take up open cat now is bcos come Mar, we can get 10% ARF rebate which amt to 1.4k, which can b directly less off from the car price and when we scrapped the car, we lose less due to the new OMV %.

Your SE smoke you or not?  Open Cat don't have $17K so high in february.

Thanks Eclaire.  This is true if we are sure of getting a COE within 6 bids.  Otherwise, there is a risk.  TCM will most probably bid higher and give priority to new orders as the price is up by 3K.  It is a gamble here.

bros here, we need to consider carefully. day 1 my SE told me most of his clients dun wan to take up open cat. today i twice carefully n thought that i shld b taking the open cat. juz to share my own opinion.... car price up 3k, meaning TCM expects COE to escalate n not down. if lose another 1 bid, SE sure want me to top up. COE price keep going up, i may have to use up the 1.4k arf rebate n mayb top up. its a gamble. since i need the car urgently, no point waiting till mar then take up open cat.

anyway, my SE told me today, dunno if still got open cat available liao... makes me sian.... now take taxi even more expensive.  :(

Hi, Eclaire.  You mean the Open Cat option offered to you is already over?  If so, no point thinking about it liao.  Just have to wait lor and hope for the best.

Sincerly hope those who are waiting for COE to get their bids soon

BTW I feel paiseh to say that my SM one shot one kill get the COE. I don't think your SE did it on purpose given the current situation, more like they underestimated the situation

Just like to share what I know abt Open CAT. When TCM bid 3-4 times never tio, they will give U the open Cats. Reason simple, they need to address to customers who book but never tio.

Usually CATE is higher a few K than Cat A. so they can buy a few piece and keep for a few months then transfer to u guys for situation like this.

Friend of mine bought Toyota PICNIC from BM. Then COE shoot like no tomorrow by 4th bid, but BM give my friend the Cat E for last month, so he tell me he FXXking happy coz CAT E transferrable and he profitted due to higher cost of the COE.

the COE he tio was valued at 14K  :zipped:

Hey bros/sisters.

I only lost the first bidding for the 1st round of January, tio on the 2nd round. Want to know the ironic thing is? I lost to a mere $1!

1st round January bidding COE Price - $14, 052.
My bid at that time - $14, 051.

HAHAHAHA! Imagine that time i keep refreshing the page to see my latest bid, only to realise I lost becoz of $1.  ::) I truly understand the meaning of $1 bcoz i need to wait for another 2 weeks for the 2nd round. Nevertheless, I already got my Latio Sedan, and LOVING IT!!!  ;D
