I have my tyres at 265kPa up front and 235kPa rear. At these pressures, I don't think we have to worry about uneven wear on the tyres. Most tyres are more prone to uneven wear from underinflation. Also, inflating to higher pressures means the tyre suffers less deformation while rolling at high speeds and that contributes to lower operating temperatures on the highway.

One crazy theory I have is that TCM technicians have to rev the engines hard as part of their checks and this may upset the ECU somewhat so that you may need to "teach" the ECU to return to your usual frugal fuel sipping drive style.

I think 12km/l for 10%HW is an excellent figure. It is very difficult to get good mileage with A/C blasting and if you make only short trips. The engine is rather inefficient before it reaches operating temperature. Also, a cold transmission has a nasty habit of not locking up the torque converter.

Try to:

- Time traffic lights so you don't have to stop
- Leave more space in front of you so you brake less often
- Turn off your engine at stopped at lights that take forever to change
- Do not warm up you engine by idling. Just start and drive off at a relaxed pace

hi bro thks for the advise! so far for me the stock tires are serving me well for my driving style, i think u are right in ur point to driving carefully as that is better than having those very grippy tires on our rides and be over confident that those tires will make us invincible on the road and tailgate other vehicles on the road.....

Ken: yah yah, tailgating is a egoistic bad habit. I think jus overtake if u can will be better.

recently i just meet with a chain collision accident on AYE last month a new merc slk convertable SJB plate and a fiat punto come crashing to my backside after i had stop for about 2 seconds. the slk had those huge expensive looking tires and rims on it yet still can crash into me.

Ken: Ouch man....i feel you bro, but difference was that the fella that banged into me was a subaru R1. Almost exactly the same, stopped for about 1-2 sec, then bang! The SLK probably couldnt handle the power and couldnt brake in time ba?

i pump at 270psi front and 250 psi back after trying out different psi and i find it suits me best as car move off faster and turn in also sharper. the recomended pressure i think is too little for me cos i look at the tires they look like punture to me especially the front 1s. so i think staying alert of the road condition and keeping a safe distance and speed during driving is critical to having a safe and pleasant journey.

Ken: Agree with u on this point, no matter what tires or pressure u use, eyes must be sharp. However, sometimes on the roads, there are pple who suddenly cut into our lanes or do really silly and rash things, in such situations, it will be better to have your braking system more effective lo. i hope u understand that we are jus concerned, not saying you are wrong in pumping so high k?

As for wear in the center i had not experience it b4 on my kind of tire pressure its always the side wear out first especially the front ones...but not a problem lar just rotate it every 10k or 20k should solve the problem

Ken: try rotating at 10k will be better. but even so, i know of a bro who used to pump 290kpa. ya, very high...too high...caused uneven wear on his tire. of cos, i wun dare say it will be the same for ur case since yours is 270kpa. Anyway, if u r happy with it, suits your driving style, and does save you petrol, then cheers!
thks ken! its really fun and rewarding to see us all sharing on tips to make us better drivers! that crash to my backside really scare the hell out of me man....the twice loud banging from behind :scared: but the workshop gave me some sweets for the ordeal i went through ;D now waiting for the injury claim lolipop to come :yehyeh:

Thomson Road Esso after Thomson Plaza have also...my advise to those that want to pump 92...try doing it in this way, 2 tanks of 92 then 1 tank of 95 cos during my testing period, at the 3rd tank of 92..my car have that "lost of power" feel but feel better when 1 do a tank of 95 so using this routine for my top up.

very interesting find....my car has been known for bad fc, never crossed 12.5km/l b4, and that was during run in. thereafter, it has always been 10.x km/l.

but my last tank clocked 13.5km/l. Nowadays i pump only 20L aka $43, end up getting 270 when the light came back on....So who says 17" cant clock good fc  :devil2: and no no, i wasnt 90% on the highways, still got whack whack quite a fair bit.

you didnt get a lemon latio..monitor the mileage after your 10k servicing as now is still within the running in period so be a bit light footed for the moment..

Hi Bro, This means Latio run-in period is 10,000 km.  So high arh?  The manual states run-in period is 1,000 miles (i.e. 1,600 km).  An average user will clock about 20,000 km per year.  This means run-in period is 6 months.
