@ying
Falken 205/50/16 ZE512(I think, can't remember, tires came with the car when I bought 2nd hand)
Esso 92(used to pump 95, now try 92 see how. So far so good!)
EO is some cheapo brand Autosaver gave me for my servicing, but is weight 30 synthetic. I dunno can bring my own oil there.

I think drive <80km/h, accelerate <2k rpm, and don't use brake unneccessarily, you can get around 15-16km/l.

@Silver
Should be quite accurate, I use the same pump, always to the brim.

Thanks bro Sol  your car have other mod?

205/50/16 looks nice, I will look for lighter 16" rim next time. What is your tyre pressure ?

Nope, no other mod. Just my driving style heavily modded for optimum FC haha. I don't believe in additives and magnets and whatnots hehe.

Tyre pressure is a bit controversial, I'm at 300kpa, been like this for half a year already.

New record today - 20.52km/l heheh!  ;D

20/80 city-highway, 80km/h max speed, acceleration at 2k rpm.

I thought this tank would be pretty terrible, since I had to fetch my parents and luggage to the airport, ~150kg extra weight with aircon on the whole trip(I live in west). Also, had to on AC a bit more than usual.

Brother, i have been reading about your FC topic, 20km/l is amazing. When you fill up petrol, do u feel to the brim?

I usually fill a fixed amt of 34 litres everytime the light comes on.

FYI:
On Esso/Caltex 95 ~ 15km/litre (before servicing)
On Esso 95 ~ 15km/litre (after servicing)
On caltex 95 ~ 15.7/litre (after servicing)

Front tires 265kpa
Back tires 235kpa

acceleration ~2000 with occasional rev-up
Highway speed ~ usually btw 90-95km/h

Can't improve further liao....

15-16km/l is already very good!

-Slow down further. If you're not in a rush, drop to 80km/h or even 70km/h if you can take it. Wind resistance increases alot as you pass 80km/h. I tell myself to avoid the fast lane, so I won't tend to go so fast.

-Tyre pressure is ok. No need to go higher if you don't feel safe.

-When going uphill, avoid stepping on accelerator to drop gear and raise RPM. Try to keep the accelerator position locked, you will lose a bit of speed, but you save a lot of fuel. If the slope is very steep, its ok to step a bit more, but avoid downshifting.

-The most important thing to work on is braking. I've seen many cars on the road braking unnecessarily. Braking throws your FC out of the window! You are basically losing your momentum to heat energy(useless). If you see a red light, let go of the accelerator. Downslope and you're going too fast, use engine braking instead of brakes. Just avoid brakes as much as possible, and you can definitely improve. I believe this is what is stopping you from better FC.

I always fill to the brim, DIY. Don't really trust the pump attendant to top up all the way.

Your tyre max pressure is 50 psi, so 300 kpa is still normal.

Oh, den it must be the wrong tyre model I gave you. Mine is rated 44PSI max. If its 50PSI I definitely will pump 50 lol.

Bro, all that you have said i am already practising, except for dropping to speed 80 and using engine brake. I try to work on that and see how. Everyday work late, after that only want to drive fast to reach home

I think a Nissan Fuel Challenge is not necessary...but rather i would be curious to see Latio vs New City vs Vios and see who's the winner..

Yup, just practice on braking more, speed issue is easy, you can do it when you're not in a rush. Good luck!

Singapore don't have manual Latio la brother!  ;D If manual I sure go for it. I think you unsure about engine brake? Auto also have engine brake, just lift off the accelerator. Force downshift also can.

I dunno about the new city, but vios will definitely beat Latio. Much lighter, plus MT in the hands of a skilled driver, I think 20-23km/l is possible.

I heard from Vios drivers, if PFL model yes, FC beat Latio but after FL model which the weight increased, not really.  ;)

You mean the E and G and J models? Yes, they do look more 'solid'. Maybe you're right!

just to understand :

what's your driving pattern? - expressways vs city driving

cold tyre pressures?

I would say 50/50 to my office but considering morning traffic slows down considerably along the expressway traveling speed along expressway average 50km to 60km if no major traffic problems...and distance to office is only 13.8km from home...evening no problems with traffic..

tyre pressure front 250 and back 240..

thinking of sending in to TCM to check what is wrong considering the returns that other Latio users are reporting... :crycry: :crycry:

perhaps if you could come to the next monthly meet-up and if some of the FC champions can come along, then we could observe both your driving style as well as the champions'?

as mentioned by some of the other forummers, do you brake a lot or do you conserve momentum wherever possible?

also, do you carry extra weight around, eg, leaving "unwanted" stuff in the boot?
Be safe. Go with the flo.

just change from Esso 95 to Esso 92, I like the feel, not bad leh . My petrol bill is even lower now.

My previous FC is 9.9km/l but I think our car is just fine, just that the number of cold start, short distance city route with many traffic light contributed the poor FC. Same car same condition I can get >15km/l on NSH to KL anytime. So it is the route and the driver. That's if we talk about Latio alone.

Other cars maybe easier to get better FC on such City Route, thats another topic.

I keep my rpm while accelerating between 2k - 3k on normal roads, enter expressways at 4k rpm, drive at 110.. I get close to 13km/l.

I pick up slow, enter expressways normally, drive at 90, I get 13.4km/l. Like no difference...  :out: on CVT btw... I now confused liao

Car mileage about 3k.. on Esso 98.. Maybe its a petrol thing?
