I guess that City driving make the FC worse as we pick up and stop always. Highway is more or less at the same speed.  :bleh:

However, 14km/l is consider good, but 19km??? Did you change air filter, put on VS to improve on FC?? That's ultimate unbelievable!  :scared: :scared: :scared:

Driving habits and route are the two most significant factors.

My colleague gets 19+km/L from 4AT sedan. Mine varies between 14km/L to 20+km/L for CVT hatchback. Have a friend who routinely nets 18+km/L on his Sunny 5MT. And I used to be able to get 15+km/L tanks on a Sunny 4AT (doing 75%HW). It pays to drive like granny...

Never heard of latio can go 20+km/litre.  Even much better than the spec (which itself tend to overstate the FC as it uses ideal road condition measuring).

Similiar to your driving patterns, I am 80% city/20% highway, getting almost 12km/L. If 50% city, it will be almost 13km/L.

i have been monitoring the FC for past few mths.
notice that highway/city driving does make a lot of diff.
my usual route is 90/10 (city/highway) and FC is always around 11/L.
however, if i drive highway during that mth for just 2/3 dys, FC improves to 13/14 for that mth. no change in driving pattern.

Your 80% city gives 12km/L, 50% city gives 13km/L.  30% difference in city improves by only 1 km.  What FC do you think you will get if 10% city and 90% HW?

I drove to Genting last yr. I think its 1%city 99% highway, FC was 13.5km/L. Was driving @ 170km/h for abt 80% of the HW.

At 170km/hr, was the engine very loud and do you feel the car stable or floating liao? (yet to try that speed)

Thanks for sharing the information, Bro.  Mine is a CVT.  I used to get between 13+ to 14+ per litre.  However, after my first servicing, it has dropped to 12+ to 13+.  But what I practice is the "commonly overlooked fact" as mentioned in that link.  Many bro/sis here advised that there isn't much point in accelerating beyond 2K rpm at pick-up, which is what I practise.  Shall try to do the 2.5K rpm and see if the FC improves.

Had tried to rev higher based on the first posting in this thread for my last tank.  The FC is better.  Managed to get 1.5km more per litre (but not sure if the improve FC is because of the higher rev).

Just sharing my experiment result here.

small Jap car sure float :) Starts @ abt 150kmh. RPM is abt 5 - 5.5k I think. It is definately noisier than usual and i was hoping it can be faster.

Used to ride bike beyond 170kph so handling to me isnt an issue. Pls try it within your limits, safety 1st!

Not that but felt that buying the car should be enjoying it rather then to count FC, thinking of way to get the best FC, change driving patterns just to get a better FC...it more like a drag then enjoying my car ride.

Yes, a better FC means a happy wallet but having to go thru all he above...i rather not. :cool2:

Getting 1 or 2 km per litre will not make a lot of difference for an average user.  Some ppl may not agree, but I do find it fun (at least for now) to see how good the FC I can achieve.  See how long I 'enjoy' this tracking.  Till then will I stop tracking.  Just like my former ride, I also tracked during the initial months.  After that, who cares!
