Ways to squeeze more kilometres out from Latio??

Read from another forum that CVT engine is more fuel efficient if driven in such manner..

http://sgforums.com/forums/1962/topics/126888

Wonder if it works for similar normal AT sedan? Been getting very poor FC recently despite driving like a ah pek - keeping constantly abt 2000rpm... Only manage to achieve barely 200km at half tank mark...  :confused1: :confused1:

Thanks for sharing the information, Bro.  Mine is a CVT.  I used to get between 13+ to 14+ per litre.  However, after my first servicing, it has dropped to 12+ to 13+.  But what I practice is the "commonly overlooked fact" as mentioned in that link.  Many bro/sis here advised that there isn't much point in accelerating beyond 2K rpm at pick-up, which is what I practise.  Shall try to do the 2.5K rpm and see if the FC improves.

Hi Bro, do you belong to the 2k rpm group or the 2.5k rpm group all these while?  If I can get 14.5km/l consistently, good enough for me liao.  Anything beyond will be added bonus!

My last 3 pumps has been as below:
398.7 km @ 26.79 litre -> 14.8 kml
429.3 km @ 30.25 litre -> 14.2 kml
435.3 km @ 30.01 litre -> 14.5 kml
Petrol used: Shell 95

At half mark indicator, usually mileage is around 200 to 220 km. Method used:
1) Keep at max 2000 rpm
2) Aircon most of the time minimum at 24 degree and above.
Highway/city: 80/20

I think half mark fuel indicator = 45 litre tank / 2 is not correct one. If calculate this way, best is 220/22.5 litre is only 9.9 kml nia. Best is go and pump petrol and see how much is actually pumped is the most accurate.

Half mark indicator is not accurate because of reserve tank.  If you try the method mentioned in the above link, maybe you can reach 15+.  No harm trying for a tank or two.

I thought Latio FC cannot be that bad leh.  Last time my drinker Auto Sunny also can get 10.5 easily.  At times, just above 11.

Seems like there are more Lations who can reach > 14 than those who get below 11.  Mine mostly 12+ to 13+.

Should be 2k, I dun go until 2.5k unless I need to go faster. I just change from Esso 8000 to 5000, so I got to monitor this time.  :cool2:

Next time, try to listen to your engine note when you drive. You will notice the difference in sound from 2k and 2.2k.

I always ensure that the engine dun 'rev' up too much when I drive. I am getting about 12.5-13km/l based on 70HW/30CT driving. Note to mentioned I have installed both iTune spark spec 1 and 2 (no switch) permanently on.
