I almost wanted to do the same as you last week, but mechanic warned me against using 20w as its not suitable for our current ride. Think its an $$ lesson learnt for you. . .

That why I mentioned that mechanic sucks.

Hey guys, my FC dropped to about 13.1 and 13.6 clicks per litre as compared to 15.2 on my second tank. Hmm I guess 5w40 is too thick already. I was being light footed some more. Now I'm being more heavy footed and true to what the observation says, maintaining revs of 2500 to 3000 is more fuel saving. Altho I probably only maintain around 2200 max or i'll be speeding waaaay too much.

Definitely gonna drop to a 30 rated E.O.

If you change from mineral oil straight to 5W40, definitely your engine and ECU need time to adjust.

Yes the front nos represent the temp. But is not applicable for our car in singapore weather. That is meant for euro country. So there is no concern.

Same. My FC also dropped from 11 km/l to 9-10km/l after changing from mineral oil to Amsoil 5w30. I noticed the petrol also play apart. After I changed from Caltex 95 to SPC 95, the FC increased a bit to 10+km/l. Still monitoring now... anyone with similar experience?

Not from me....I also change from mineral to Amsoil 3w50 during the 10K service, still can get at least 12km-13km/l
What is your travelling pattern? I am 60% HW and 40% City with a strong right foot. 1st gear always hit 3k.   :D

Plan to change to redline 10w30 in the next service. Will compare between amsoil.

that's cool.... i never reach 12km/l b4  :crycry: mine is 40% HW, 60% city. I moderate driver and always hit ard 2krpm
I asked TCM and they even use thicker synthetic oil (FastLo 5W40). Do I need to tune the engine when changing from mineral to synthetic oil? What's the recommended rpm? They set mine at 700rpm during idle

W is for winter.. ie places with freezing temperature.. but for Spore dun bother abt the the front number just look at the second number. rule of thumb smaller number equal thinner oil = better Fc coz lesser resistance but lesser engine protection

I changed from mineral to 5W-30 during the 10K servicing.  Now reaching 20K, FC remains unchanged.   :confused1:

I am going to ask the SE during the next servicing.

Sup bros, I have just filled me tank again. 5th tankful for 5w40 E.O. FC is about 13.9 clicks a litre. Getting better  ;D. And I was being heavy footed most of the way altho I am 60%highway,40%city this time around. Might wanna check your tyre pressures too, a fellow Latio owner (CVT) is using the same e.o, and we are neck and neck in our FC altho I am 4AT. Will continue to update. I still think 5w40 is too thick... Kinda takes a long time if 5 tanks isn't enough to run in the oil no? Not to mention my second tank ran at 15km/l. Cheers!
