AMSOIL Usage
« on: June 17, 2008, 09:45:19 AM »
I read from the AMSOIL 5w30 synthetic oil bottle it can last up to 25,000 miles. Did anyone try up to that long? TCM recommends every 10,000 km needs to change.

From Amsoil website (http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx):

SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil is recommended for extended drain intervals in unmodified(1), mechanically sound(2) gasoline fueled vehicles as follows:

Wahlau  :scared: 25k mi = 40k km leh... I think 20k km should change ba. Oil not very expensive (compare to road tax and insurance!!!), protects the car. regular change won't harm

Agree with you bro....Engine is the 'heart' of the body, better to change at regular interval of abt 20k km; will also help in your fuel efficiency in the long run  ;)

Bear in mind that engine oil deteriorates not only base on usage, but also depends on climate condition, air condition, driving habits, etc.

As in tropical countries, where humidity and temperature is high, do not expect it to deliver the same result. Just like the tyres, don't wait till mileage arrives 40K - 50K then change, but 2 - 3 years whichever comes earlier. I would think that changing of the Amsoil atmost 15K would be the max.

Overseas they change their oils at >20k but renew their oil at shorter intervals using some machines to renew or filter, together with oil filter change. If you die die use your oil till the 25,000 miles you are asking for trouble.
