Hi all,
I'm a new driver, just went to purchase Latio Sport Premium. I had change the rim to original base rim 15".... My friend told me to change to change to 16" rim and type.... Need some advise on should I change it?
Thanks.
Hi there, personally, i've used 15" and 3 different types of 17" b4, i wont quite get used to driving with 15" or 16" now. The points displayed by the other bros are valid, and it always takes 2 hands to clap. For instance:
1. bigger rims = nicer = heavier = higher FC.
2. bigger but lighter rims = nicer = FC maintained or even better FC = more expensive (rims & tyres)
3. 15" tyres are cheaper that is without a doubt, but i self console myself by saying 1 set of 17" tyres costs less than $800, i
use for 2 years. You divide out the cost by 12 month installment its $66/mth. I spend more than $66/month on ciggies
4. 205mm and above = better grip, better handling, better stability
5. Grip, handling & stability can be argued by: this is only a latio, how fast u want to go? why u want to improve this & that?
6. Bigger rims & tyres = maybe slower pick up but better performance at bends and high speed
7. You want very good FC, can try the Hybrid car, but expensive or Bo Hua. Or maybe even CNG conversion.
I hope you get my point bro, rims & fc & performance is always a chicken and egg thing. The choice really lies in yourself. All i know is that if u want to purchase a rim, put in some effort to source, I'm sure u will be able to find a nice light rim available, it may be 2nd hand especially for those models which production has ceased. Anyway, keep your options open first, let me see if i can arrange a 16" tyre trial for the mega meet. There and then, u can experience it yourself. How say you?
