New Noise at Boot (Solution: WD40)
« on: July 11, 2008, 03:22:51 PM »
Hi all

Other than that previous sound that we mentioned in another thread mths ago.

Recently, when i open my boot, there is another type of noise.... It's like 生锈 noise (what is the word in english ah? rusting?)

Anyone? Need me to use phone to record down the noise to let you hear?

Regards!!!

You can try to use WD40 to spray the joints where the spring is.

Hope my explaination is clear. Can't think of better way to describe it.

This is WD40   ;)

http://www.wd40.com/

Can buy it at any DIY stores or supermarkets.

WD40 is very versatile. You can also spray it on your window to remove those irritating VICOM inspection stickers that they paste on your window. After you remove the sticker, the glass will feel very sticky. Just spray WD40 on it and it work slike magic in removing the stickiness.

Guys, i am having a very irritating KOK sound whenever i close my boot (sedan). TCM says its due to the mechanism.. another "it's like that lor" reply. pisses me off. any way to solve it?

It does seem like the latch. THere's this red plastic that untwists the boot cover. but it is very very annoying.

If your Latio is under warranty, you can ask Tan Chong to replace the faulty part that is causing the noise, for free.

hi detach8

it's a norm.
mine also have.
during my 1k servicing, i told the service engineer, he showed me the other latio, it is normal one. so, he only apply some lubricant near the "joint" area to make it smoother only.
the noise still exist. never disappear.

but, recently, i listen carefully, the noise is not really come from the "joint", it is come from the "hook" that suppose to help us to hold the boot when we close the boot. u try to observe, then you will know what i am trying to say. i donno how to describe.

no leh, mine the KOK! sound is before i even close the boot.. about halfway down. if you close slowly no sound, but if u close fast the KOK! sound will be damn loud, damn annoying, and sometimes give me heart attack (sometimes i put expensive musical instruemnt behind and the KOK sound like i kena teh instrument..)

Hi detach8, same issue with me too...used to hear the 'kok kok' sound wheneer I close the boot fast or slightly harder...my advice is don't rush to close your boot, do it slowly & you also wont knock into your instrument... ;)

Also...If there's some squeaking noise, should put some oil at the hinge...
