Optimum Air Con Temp Setting
« on: August 21, 2008, 12:31:17 AM »
What temperature do you set your Latio air con thermostat?

I set mine at 24 degrees but find it really stuffy as most of the time it is room temperature air coming out from teh vents.

Only when I set it to 23 degrees does cold air come out for a longer period.

I had been using 25 / 26 for the last 2 yrs plus.  It works well and quite cooling except on rainy days where the temperature outside is cold.

for me most of the time 25.. only on some extreme hot day set to 24/23..  usually use manual blower set to 2 bar.. auto blower is too strong at starting and too low after reach the pre-set temp... so will feel stuffy.. ;)

Mine is mostly 23 or 24.... I believe outside temp does affect how fast the aircon really kick in. Like today, early in the morning, rain heavily, air con cool very fast....

I experienced the opposite.  During hot days, set at 24 degree can feel the cold air.  When raining days, get warm air if set at 24 degree.  So got to set lower on raining days.  Air-con try to be smart and compensate with auto climate control, but overdo it.

yeah agree ur point on the ******** AI aircon control, I'm always on 25 deg unless hot day then i set to 22. However, i'd encounter several times - either at night when it's cold or raining days, the air seems to be warmer than the atmosphere outside and u can really feel it's like warm air. Guessed quite a few pple here experienced the same too..

Maybe your air con compressor is faulty?

Faster go back to Tan Chong to get free replacement during warranty.

I always set my a/c at 28 for normal weather, 25 or 26 at fan 2 when it is damn hot. I experienced a/c not cold when i first collect my car, after i told them the issue during my 1k servicing, my a/c been in tip top condition for past 1 year. I would recommend you guys to tell TCM of your car a/c issue.

There was once when i felt my a/c not feeling cold at 24. Didn't bother until 5k servicing and when collect car, found the a/c has been re-set to 27 by TCM. Quite surprise to find 27 quite cold during the night but not day time. Adjusted a/c to 25 the next day and it has since been serving me well for the past 3 months. The next time you go for servicing, can try to set it 24 or lower and tell them a/c not cold. They will rectify for you.

I think Nissan has a "weird" air-con adjustment algorithm. There are temperature sensors just under and slightly to the left of the steering wheel. And an "external" sensor near the windscreen.

Say you set 26C. On a hot day, that 26C will make the aircon compressor compensate by running the compressor much harder because the "external" sensor thinks "boy it's a really hot day".

On a cool day, the "external" sensor says "I don't really think he wants cold air right now" and runs the compressor under light load. The internal sensor thinks the temperature is just fine because it is located lower down where cold air sinks.

Maybe you can place a piece of aluminium foil over the air con sensor on the dashboard to overcome this issue.

mine is usually at 25 on normal days, super hot days would lower to 22. i remember before my 1k servicing my a/c cools really slowly and i told TC about the problem. think they did do sth about it as after the servicing my a/c has been serving me so well that my front passenger will complain that it is too cold even on 25 on normal days.
