CVT and CVTC

There was mention of CVTC and CVT in another thread and I thought I should not OT there so I started a thread here.
First of all what the terms mean:
1. CVT: Continuously Variable Transmission (compare to 4 AT ot manual). Call it the gearbox if you will.
2. CVTC: Continuously Variable Timing Control (Not exactly the same as VTEC or VVTI but idea is close enough)

With the new CVT, many people are confused between CVT and CVTC. They are not the same!
I have also seen alot of enquiries on whether our engine got CVTC because unlike the Sunny, it is not advertised. The answer is yes. All the different models of latio in singapore has the HR15DE engine which has DOHC and CVTC. I suppose this is such common technology that Nissan in Singapore don't see the need to advertise it anymore.
If you want to confirm, go to Nissan's indonesia or Hong Kong website and its there.

What the CVTC does is that it can continuously vary the timing of the valve train to advance the timing or delay the timing for optimal performance.

Hahahaha sensitive question..... I actually tried to compare in my original but deleted it....
VTEC is different from CVTC and VVTI. CVTC and VVTI are both varying the valve timing. VTEC varies valve lift (how much the valve opens) for different rpm. Not familiar with MIVEC.....
iVTEC improves on the VTEC by adding variable valve timing with varying lift.
Asking me which one is best is like asking me if Nikon or Canon is better lah. Argue until die also cannot finish (of course, we all know the answer is Hasselbad.... hehehehe)
