yes. initally after everything been confirmed, n just waiting for the delivery of vehicle...the bank suddenly called n told mi that the loan amt will be lower than the amt i loan. my SE ask them to review my case n manage to get it thru. heard soon it will be a must to hav downpayment (not sure how many %), n the bank will be more strict regarding loan amt.

latio sport factory fitted headunit doesnt come with mp3 player, only cd player.

thanks for the info. my friend was suggesting to me to trade in for a dvd/mp3 player with my factory fitted cd system if i want. since the car is only few days old, the trade in value will be higher. but was worry that those chi-na brand player will spoilt easily. have seen 2 of my frzs changed the player twice in less than a yr.

kenny, do you really need a DVD player in your car?else just get a normal 2DIN HU for fit in but don't put too much high hope that the factory HU can have too much of a trade in value.

If possible, get 1 HU that is ipod ready.

iwilly, thanks for your info..

so do u mean that even if i burn the mp3s into a cd..the player also cannot read the data? i.e. the player doesn't support the mp3 format..

kenny:
so far ive no problems with the bank loan..now am just worried abt the availability of COEs..with TCM offering unguaranteed 6 bids...there is a likehood that transaction will be cancelled due to TCM not able to secure a COE or require customers to top up...

anyway..anyone knows if TCM actually communicate their COE upper cap to customers? Am just wondering what their COE upper threshold..not sure if its a normal practice for the industry to reveal..

hehe, actually wat i wanted is a system that able to read mp3 files (which I can burn up to 700MB of songs in just 1 cd rather than a normal CD only consists of 15-20 songs)...so that i dun hav to keep changing CDs. DVD player is not a must, probably if i want is coz of the touch screen function which i can select diff songs in diff folders based on how i burnt the CD.

btw, hehe..wat is 2DIN HU & 1 HU stand for?

2DIN HU is twice the thickness of a normal 1 DIN HU meaning 1 DIN HU is using 1 slot and 2 DIN HU is using 2 slot of the space. Factory fitten HU is 2 DIN

oic. they hav a promo previously which entitle mi further discount on the overall car price but they will bid my coe at a lower range. n if there's a need, i will have to top up since it is unguaranteed bidd. previously the coe is at $13,801. unsuccessful bidding for the 1st bid which closed at $10,989. i only got my coe secured in the 2nd bid at $10,455.

u can check LTA site before the bidding closed on wed. enter your NRIC to see how much they bid for you...the amt they bid will change depending on how they play

yes that's preciesly what i'm worried abt cos now the prices are slashed by so much...so means they wil enter a low bid for coe as well..with the surge in demand..the likelihood of top up seems inevitable..thing is i'm not even sure hw much are they intending to bid for the coe..so what's to stop them from offering rock bottom prices but then enter such low bids that you have no choice but to top up..so end up your rock botom price isn't that rock bottom afterall..

plus..past few days they been raising prices..so logically for these customers TCM would have a higher buffer to bid for COE..which means ppl who bought earlier at the lower prices have lower likelihood to get the COE..

correct me if i am wrong..

the price increase is due to the increase of yen...from wat i know frm my SE...cars from the next shipment will be much more ex than ex-stock.
i think u have to discuss with your SE regarding the COE. for mine, she suggest to mi getting 3k discount which they will bid the coe at the range of 3k-7k. but they will try to bid higher if possible...which i got it at $10,455 at 2nd bidding. she told mi the chances of getting it is ard 70%...will observe how it goes n advise me accordingly if there's a need to top up which is ard $500.

anyway, your SE will not be the person bidding the COE for u. someone else from other dept will b in charge of bidding

The Face-Lifted Latios come with factory installed HU already done in Japan, no longer the JVC/Kenwood HUs that were more flexible in terms of function. The factory built HU can only play CDs and radio. I believe nobody will offer you a trade-in for the factory-built HU unless its a distributor promotion. Anyway, a good choice will be to keep it so you can install it back when you are selling/exporting your car and move your upgraded ICE to your new car.

Just keep in mind a few things when you are choosing a new HU:

Do you have the intention to upgrade the rest of your ICE other than the HU or just want the mp3 function?

If it's the latter, just choose a HU that you like that can play mp3 from some of the more trusted brands eg Alpine, Pioneer etc that meets your budget. There's a wide range of prices for HUs.

If it's the earlier choice, do consider at least a HU with time-alignment function like the Pioneer P80RSII or the Alpine 9887. Choose a HU/source that have the functions that you want to avoid wasting too much $$ when the upgrade bug bites you.

b4  i collect my cat, what i did was i told me SE to opt out of the stock HU for me ($250 rebate)  and ask my SE to look for a HU that support USB and mp3 and cost ard $250

in the end>> he got me a JVC 1 DIN HU with usb connector and plays mp3..
now i just plug in my usb then my HU can play mp3 liao

maybe u can ask ur SE to help u

I have just got my car, of all the gadgets in the car, the radio seems to be the only turn off, very basic for a premium.

However, I saw that the radio system for the basic model seems more premium.......

Hi..I'm new here..collected it 2 weeks ago...latio sports 4AT FL.. my stock HU can play mp3 burned CDs.... tried it out already...

But does anyone have any idea if anything can be done besides changing the HU, perhaps an adaptor or something..to allow us to attach mp3 player/ipod/usb?
