I went to a couple of car authorised dealers(mitsubishi, nissan & toyota) with my friend. He was currently driving a mitsubishi lancer sports and he was considering to buy a lancer EX.

The mitisubishi salesman access his car and told him that his car after trade in worth only 22k, and they could give him another $500 dollars off for being a loyalty misubishi car owner.
The rest of the car agent also quoted him around that price.

So we went to a 3rd party car dealer and he access his car and say he could buy over from him for a price of 28k. almost 6k more compared to those "authorised" car dealer.

SO for goodness sake, dont ever trade in your cars to those car agents who sweettalk with you for being their loyalty customer. All these are bullshit. Better to trade in your car outside rather than those in house agent.

NOt sure if i am wrong to say that. What is your say in this?

It is better to sell yourself  by advertising in the papers or sgcarmart.

The VW dealer offered my friend only $25,000 for his February 2006 Altis 1.8A, or just $2,000 above paper value.

My friend was told that Altis 1.6 is more popular and no body wants Altis 1.8 as it is not popular and there is no demand.

I thought Altis 1.8 should be easier to sell since it is so rare. It shares the same engine as Celica.

$25,000 for a less than 3 yr old Altis 1.8A.

I would gladly top up to $30,000 to buy that Altis 1.8 which comes with 5 yr warranty.

It is better if you checked with Nissan the price they willing to take in, then after that check with a number of car dealers.

We have contacted more than 5 car dealers and all offer much more than the the authorised car agent can offer. Out of the 5 2nd hand car dealer, my friend sold his lancer to ALan, H/P: 94232922, who offers $200 more than them. You can check with him for new car as well. He is very friendly and willing to help you get cheaper deal plus brand new car.
