16" rim FC
« on: February 14, 2009, 12:37:13 AM »
Hi all,

thinking of upgrading of current 15" rim to 16" rim.
however, worried that the FC will drop drastically.
current FC is alr below expectation 12~13k.
bro who have upgraded can share how much their FC is affected? thanks!

For my ride, my fc suffers 10% after I changed to 16".  :weep:

I'm on 16" too, FC at around 18-19km/l. If 15" i think I can hit 20km/h  ;D

i had been very gentle with my right leg and no un-necessary overtaking.
however, due to the morning jam every day (thomson - lornie rd), my fc cant improve.

Wow! U got a very light foot and a gd method of driving style.
As for me, even with stock 15", the best I could hit was 16km/l.   :glare:

I'm 205/XXX/16, the middle number is what i forgot liao haha. I dun like this tyre, its too wide making road humps a pain. Plus, its wider grip means poorer FC. Should try thinner tyres next time.

I changed my rims from stock 15" to 16" ,prior to 2008 CNY. So far, ,my FC has not gone worst.
In fact, i think its didnt affect FC at all. My usual FC is ard 10.6 to 10.8km/L.
Now with the KPE, I am getting between 10.8 to 11.6km/L.
My rim is 205/50/16. So FC wont be affected.

Guess I'm a sucker for bigger rims  :devil2: But guess +1 would be 195/55R16 however this size is not common. I just find the existing stock or rather my change to 195/60R15 have a fat looking tyre

when i was 15inch, i get around 14.5k/l on mineral
after switch to syn , i changed to 205/50/16 and i still get 14.5 to 15.5..
cant tell the impact but i think 10% is a good gauge?

thanks to all the feedback.

hmm...look like upgrading to 16" do not affect the FC very much.
i may change aft the current tyre run bald. cause now if i trade in the tyres, i cannot get a good value since my mileage is alr ard 2.5k.

depends on what grade of tires u use and the weight of the rims as well.

I was using a 15" rim with Kumho tires because i sent my 16" rims for re-spray, then after about a week, i changed back to my 16s, definitely quieter, more comfy, steering was lighter, pick up was better because the 15" chiong rims were heavy!

If u used sticky tires, that can affect ur fc as well. Have fun in your rim shopping.

For 16" at 205/50R16 wat tyres are you guys using?

I was checking on web and apparently at this size the load rating for most tyres are only 87 and not 88 when on stock therefore now confused if wanna changeto 16"

Very remarkable and recordbreaking fuel economy indeed!

I presume you must be travelling at least 90% highway and never rev your engine beyond 2000rpm.

My lemon Latio can never achieve beyond 13km/l even on stock sized rims and tyres.

i know of 1 guy drivin an opc latio he told me from day 1 when he collected his car he never ever turned on the a/c bcoz when he drives in the mornin at 6+ the air is coolin and when he drives back home in the evenin at 7+ the air outside is also coolin...

So i curiously i asked him since u dun on ur a/c to drive then wats ur fc like and he told me he could get 700km till reserve dat is abt 17.5- 18 km/l

WoW i cant imagine drivin w/o a/c in the hot blazin aftnoon sun manz  :out:
