Father & son team
I think the slow & steady speed really helped them, they were 2nd last to arrive at final check point.

Does this mean our Latio is good in terms of fuel saving or the driver has good driving skill?

... Latio is good in terms of fuel saving or if the driver has good slow/steady driving skill.

Did the organizer fill the tank for participant or they DIY? Any JB petrol ram tactic on that day?

One unfortunate incident where this Latio Sports tried to reverse in NSE and crashed into a lamp post, fortunately no injuries.

Fuel filled by participants at start of challenge, 5mins time allowance.  I already give up after 3+mins of "humping".
End of challenge, filled by pump attendant and verified by few marshal, 10mins time allowance.  No "humping", but with 10mins time allowance, they keep filling to the brim and allow air bubble to escape.

Driving in reverse mode can save more petrol? Why did he reversed along North South Highway for no reason?

i think the accident happen in rest area or toll area, hard to find a lamp post along NSHW where you can ramp it without hitting the barrier.
