Battery Water

Hi,

My ride is over 2 years looking at the battery level it almost descend to level 2.Next servicing is long way. Had a bottle of battery water (Shell) bought about 1.5 year plus ago at Giant - not open yet and no manaufacturing or expiry date on it.

Question:
It is ok to use this product (Shell battery water) after that period? or expiry date for this product is not important?

Do i have to open all the caps and fill it to level 1 or just one of the cap? FYI not been filling it myself before, so really not sure leh. :(

Some say after 2 years best to get it replace, is it true? :confused1:

The so-called battery water is just expensive/branded distilled water.
It should be quite safe to use.

When I was driving my old car, I just used drinking distilled water to top up when needed (not mineral water hor..)

You have to open all the caps to fill up to level 1.

My longest lasting battery lasted me 3 yrs.

I recently topped up the battery water.  Noticed that TC never top up for me. Coz there is a metal bar mounting on top of the battery which blocks on the cell cap. I have to loosen the screw to access that cell cap.  After a few days, I notice the cranking is more powerful and louder.  previously cranking is weak.

Total distilled water used is about 150ml. i used Waston distilled water.

yes you may use distilled water under normal usage but "battery water" = battery acid = electrolyte is not the same as branded distilled water, don't drink it  :bleh:

Maintenance free batteries are not as lasting as conventional ones, and they are more expensive too..

My stock batt until 2 yrs so not much different.
some Dry cell has warranty for at least 1 yr.
Expensive yes but free u from worrying.
Just look at the color change, no need to uncap every caps and do refills.

I've never have to maintain my stock battery. It has lasted for 2.5 years already giving no problem, but will change in my next servicing. Do not worry about topping up the battery water if you do a regular servicing, the workshop will do for you. It is not a monthly occassion. The only advantage I find MF battery is it looks nicer and neater.

Well it is up to individual.  :smile:

I think generally the battery from Tan Chong is lasting  is because it is made in Japan.

my original battery from jpn conked out after 6 months under normal usage. for whatever reasons, idk.

That is very rare for a battery to need replacement after just 6 mths.

The Tan Chong mechanic said Sunny battery can last longer as Sunny has less electronics. It uses same size battey as Latio.

Latio i-key saps its battery power.

Maybe you heavily zheng your ride with ICE ? The stock battery cannot tahan and you actually need to upgrade to 60AH.

didn't know i-key can saps it's batt power...
as compare to turning on headlight and turning ignition immd, hmmm.. all makes also uses remote too.... isn't it?

Maybe just unlucky that you got a bad battery....batteries like all products out of manufacturing plant has a certain percentage of defected product...some times it is siff out and sometimes not....so maybe u unlucky to get a defected one...

i-key is always on standby mode, just like remote alarm, so it saps battery power.
