Loss of power when step hard on accelerator
« on: August 28, 2009, 08:56:56 PM »
 Hi all lation,

I am facing problem with my latio this few days. The problem is that I can't feel the car giving power (locking to low gear) when I want overtake or pickup as usual. Its like the RPM only slowly build up to the desired speed. Have anyone here encountered this? By the way, I sending my car to autosaver tomorrow to check what happen. Just need some advise from the members here. Thanks.

Bro, if yours is CVT then I think it's normal. I used to drive latio CVT and gave up overtaking as the response is really not there. At first I thought my gearbox got problem and went to TCM to persuade them to change my gearbox which they eventually did. However, it was to no avail. Guess Latio was designed more on comfort than power.

Hello, how to you manage to convince them to change the gearbox? I am also on CVT, not only did i encounter the  "step but no power" thing, the car is also jerky at slow speed/rpm, especially on upslope. I am going for my servcing soon and want them to do something about it. I complained about it during my last servicing already...

It took me several visits back to them and repeated complains. That time I also encountered several occasions whereby from stationery position i step on the accelerator but the pick-up is something like "move off from 2nd gear" feeling. I also complained that to them as the gearbox seems to be unable to go back to 1st gear after complete stop. To be honest, their equipment to test the gear box can only do partial test, so most of the time they'll say they test it with their equipment found nothing wrong. And they are quite unwilling to change gearbox if the problem is not onvious to them as the gearbox costs $10k plus. So you have to be persistent.

btw, it also depends on the service exec. I have a friend drviing Latio 4AT and he went back to TCM one day to complain about loud wind noise when driving. The service exec took his car for a ride and came back telling him his gearbox is faulty instead.  They changed the gearbox for him.  ::)

i think u should call up Bro Issac for spark bridging....it really shows significant improvement on overtaking on HW and pickups to our CVTs Latio....ride is very much smoother...no time lag when u wanna overtake...and it doesn't cost much Vit M....jus did that last week....cheap and good mod....can consider! go check out the spark bridge meet up thread....u'll find his number...hope that this will help  ;D

i agree that spark bridging will provide some solution to the "slow pickup" that our sedan is facing.

i did the bridging with Issac too... Never regret!!!!!

TRY IT ....!!
I feel that the car pick up confirm has improved ....for the that cost >i think the performance gained worth while..

$10k??? I really dunno if i should scrap the car or spend $10k to change the gearbox if it is faulty... my warranty expiring in 4 months.... i think i should complain again... thanks....

Hi bro,

my car got similar wind noise, dino it is due to gearbox. how many days TCM need to change gearbox? Do TCM provide a car for us to use during the period our ride is in the workshop?

Thanks

Do you have window visor and the noise is present at certain speed. If you drive slow also have loud noise then you better sent to TCM to check, else it could be your visor.

i dun have visors, i experienced this "wind" noise whenever i accelerate the car from stationary.
