I have tried before ... full tank up to melaka and back with just around RM20 buck top up along the way with total 2 person inclusive driver in the car. If I dont drive within Melaka Town, I think full tank can allow me to drive to and fro of melaka town.

Full tank all the way to KL last toll exit with 4 full adult in may this year plus I am driving at around 120km/hr to 140km/hr....  paiseh I cannot possible maintain 80km/hr to 100 or else I will be falling asleep.

So ..I must say the FC is good.
Car Changed .. No more Latio.....

This is the latest: I'm now at 1/2 tank, and have already travelled 252km. Amazing! Hope it stays this way!

Been driving for about a year. Very light footed. 40%highway - 60% city. Latest fuel top up: 38.5L after travelling 420km. So its about 10.9km. Still topped up SPC 95. Will continue to monitor one more tank and then see how its improving.

From the look ... your 40% highway is low to achieve good FC. It means in most of the time driving in City, you have a lot of stop/start and max 60km/hr.

The optimal speed for good FC is 80km/hr constant for at least 70% to 80% of the time. It reminds me in the previous forum, there is also a member complaining about poor FC but later we found that it is poor because he travel almost 90% of the time in short distance (< 10 to 15 min drive to work) and no more than 60km/hr. Such condition is never optimal for FC consumption, if you look at the recent Nissan Frugal challenge... the winner is driving around 80km/hr, light load without Air-Con!!!! to achieve around 28km/l for Latio. But we know we dont travel in such condition.

So ... in mainly city driving... 10 to 11km/l is a good number. Mainly smooth highway travel .. 13 to 14 @ 80km constant is good.
Why I say only 13 to 14 @ 80km/hr is good? cause if one is driving above 100 and 110km/hr ... the FC will dropped down to close 11... in fact will be between 11 to 12.

Please also know that pumping will also determine the variance. One pump uncle may squeeze extra 1 to nearly 2 litre of petrol after click, but another could squeeze a little or not at all. I found that after the pump stopped by itself, typically you still can potentially squeeze up to 2 litre in Esso Station.

Overall Latio FC is good in its category.

Cheers ...

tried going at 80km/hr today to work.

Amazing you can feel that there is a decrease in foot pressure as soon as it hits 80km/hr. Other than this optimum speed, the other foot pressures has to be increased slightly or quite a bit to attain that speed.

surprisingly i did not play with this previously. After trying, it really shows that the 80km/hr really helps in FC considering that i dun have to press so hard on pedal... heh heh  :D

Agreed. FC of Latio improves with more % of hwy travel, even if traveling at non-efficient speed.  I did Port Dickson, 320km one way at 110km/h on 22L, car fully loaded w/ 4 adults & 3 kids (!!)  That's 14.5km/L. Not too bad

Dear all,

After a month plus of trying and pumping, i've done my sums and conclusion.

using spc92, i will always hit between 12.2-12.5km/l. using spc95, i will always hit 13-13.5km/l. I have not tried other petrol yet but dun think i will try anymore, am very happy with spc95 (cheap and 13km is not bad!)

Maybe you can achieved 14-14.5km/l with SPC98 leh.

I try Ron 98 and there's no much different in fuel saving; except that the engine rev. smoother, quieter and pick up faster.
It is still your right foot that matter most.

agreed.

I achieved 13.8km/l standard for RON92.

after i changed to 98, the rev is smoother, pick up is definitely very much faster and quieter.

But because of this, my right foot itchy go down a bit more. shiok mah. at the cost of FC.

Now is 12.4km/l.

My idea about RON98
Shiok, expensive. Drive like a man, spend like a woman.

want to save? don't drive.
want to drive? pay money
since pay money liao, pay a few more dollars lor.
heartache, but at least heartache until shiok.
Worst case scenario: heartache, still heartache.. cuz use RON92 liao MILEAGE STILL DROP!!!!

Will the FC goes down when it is due for servicing?
My past experience with Nissan Sunny was like, when freshly serviced, the FC is quite good. Or rather OK.
Then after crossing 5k-6k mark, the FC will be getting worse. Up to about 9+km/l when near 10k.
Is this problem only for Sunny? or is it the Fastflo engine oil?
Does Latio behave this way as well?

hi Ben5266,

Its the non-synthetic Engine oil which TCM provides as the free servicing.

It gets better when you reach 10k and switch to Synthetic Engine oil.

I was suffering about ave 10km/l until switch to Synthetic and fuel consumption improved to 12km/l.
