Was told that during U-turn or reverse parking, as long as you don't fully turn (lock) the steering to the left/right, the steering coupling won't damaged so fast.

u still get it even if u do not fully turn the steering wheel. Had mine changed, was very careful with the steering. 2 weeks later start to detect the sound bit by bit coming, till its totally audible.

The sound u just need the steering to turn 1 full cycle, then drive slowly out u start hearing.....

Not sure want to ask TCM to solve the tuk...tuk..tuk.. on slow turning problem, I have arrange an appointment on (2 Dec09), because the more TCM rectifiy the problem the worst it gets, currently my car is as straight as an arrow. Anyone knows is it a major problem? Because I can live with it, any comments?   :confused1: :out:

Thanks for the feedback as I am not alone.

I have the same thinking as you - live with it as long as it is not a major problem.
But after too many minor problem surface out, I decided to get them fixed it since it is still under warranty.

Guys, that Tut Tut sound is a problem in the steering shalf coupling. I changed mine twice at TC ubi. 1st one changed on 2 yrs warranty period and 6 months later again when i started hearing it again. Heard its a common problem in other cars as well. But do get it changed by TC if your car is still in warranty.

i think u probably visited the UBI workshop. If u go BT tcm, the moment u highlight the issue, no further question ask, they just change for me. I had been to ubi shop and they keep giving excuses  not to replace.

IMHO, the sound is not only irritating but would most likely increase wear and tear of your car, why I said so cause when u turn the wheel angel until u could have the sound and during which u go over a hump or deep enough depression on the road, you could acutally feel the steering like running loose like got something just rub up and down the steering shaft. as if Masturbating the shaft ;D, so decided to change as soon as its due for servicing.

Besides they got 6mth warranty, so if change already and the prob persists, I presume it should still be covered if promptly reported.

Update, went to Ubi TCM. they did not change any parts, but TCM said that they have done a procedure recommended by NISSAN principal. Now not more Tuk...Tuk..Tuk.. and does not affect wheel alignment. :yehyeh:

update us again in a months time...too early to determine issue resolve.

To me I am never ever going back to Ubi again, usually servicing always turns out to have some issues right after that
