205/50R16 tyres
« on: December 10, 2009, 09:19:57 PM »
Hello guys, recently my steering keep vibrating at 60km/h, so went to check, then mechanic say tire spoil, uneven. Got such thing?

If want to change, any recommendations for tires for this profile? Priority is road noise, grip is not very important to me. I'm on this notoriously slippery tire, but I feel its ok, I drive very slow.

I park outside my house, have to park very close to curb so as not to block other cars. Think hit curbs at least once a week. I shall try the wheel alignment and balancing as Silver and Zerogravity said, any shop can do this? Scarly is small problem, don't have to change wheels afterall.

Any recommendations?

If your priority is road noise, ie. a quiet tyre, I am surprise dthat you chose such a wide tyre - 205/50R16.

Stock size 185/65R15 will offer you the most comfort.

The Japan made Goodyear LS2000 Hybrid2 with its Noise Volume Reduction rubber compound should meet your requirements for a quiet tyre. $138 each.

I bought the car 2nd hand, and it already comes with this profile. Is it possible to downgrade back to 185/65R15?

205/60R16 tyres make your actual speed 1.6% faster than the actual speedometer reading

You can always ask around if any new Latio buyers intending to upgrade tyres and rims want to sell you their stock rims and tyres. $400 excluding labour is reasonable.

you can look for a tyre feature that helps protect the rim, higher profile (like stock) is better if you "hit curbs at least once a week."

I rather get LS2000 which is cheaper and also made in Japan.

No doubt about Japanese quality and QC.
