Title: Latio Premium and No Premium
Post by: stepper78 on October 26, 2011, 03:46:34 PM
Hi Everyone,
Thinking of geting a 2nd hand Latio 4 door.

Understand that there is premium ( one sales man tell me is CVT, push for more info, he say not sure) and no premium (4AT).

In term of outlook and interior accessories, is there other diff?

Thanks.

arm rest                                              no
auto fold side mirror                            no

my non premium model has foglights.

i think the best way is to see if it is cvt or 4 speed AT. for normal 4 speed auto model, the gear selection has P, N, D, 1, 2. for CVT, there is S for sport and there is no 1, 2.

normally, premium models come with wooden dashboard panels and gear lever knob, CVT transmission and alcantara leather seats (feels like suede leather).

non premium model dashboard all plastic, gear is like what i mentioned above and lastly, the seats are normal leather and the overall price costs a few hundred less.

cvt is an add on component to engine n gear block add maintenance cost n to some lousy pick up if the cvt gives u prob cost an arm or leg to fix too

Thanks for the info.

Actually i am on CVT for my past 3 cars. (lancer->fit->lancer)

Use to the "rubber band" liao. :crying:

now also dont know which one to get. Actually prefer the non premium interior more, personally dont like wooden interior. But premium got arm rest. :w00t:

Also notice some latio is black interior and some interior is biege, how TC decide on what colour interior to give?

black or biege interior can be choosen when ordering new car at TC.

i feel the wooden interior more durable, my wooden interior still as good as new while my silver part at steering wheel start to turn black liao.

the armrest can be ordered as an accessory from tan chong.. i seen on a non premium model myself haha.. same for foglight, alloy rims. i think the only thing that cannot order is the alcantara seats and cvt, those are premium model exclusive..

then again, don't really fancy these options anyway hahaha  :zipped:

i c, how much did you buy your latio?

common problem i believe is the aircon, such as aircon compressor, cooling coil.

the steering coupling so far since the last change at TCM few years back, it never came back.

Thanks.

mine 08 cvt sedan, common issues mentioned in here
1. aircon - mine so far no issue
2. coupling - during warranty changed once so far no issue.
3. fuel guage not accurate - during warranty changed once, problem come back again. not big issue to me as i alway pump full tank. FC reading is constant

For the coupling issue, is it only happen when signal light is turned On? If make a left or right turn without the turning On the singal light, it won't happen?

Steering coupling issue will happen whether you switch on the signal or not. Its an inherent design issue.

Bought a LAtio premium, Amethyst grey. 20 months old. Can't remember how much was it but it was worth the buy... Been driving it for 5 months and F/C is excellent. 70/30 expressway- urban, 14.5-15.2km/L.

CVT is smooth. And so far, family and friends gave good comments about comfort and leg space. Latio premium have all the high end specs thrown in. Foglights, auto folding side mirror, auto headlight sensor, alcantara leather seats, downlight at cockpit and glove box...

It does make a big difference between premium CVT and AT. Had a friend who drove the AT version and was surprised that i touched reserve light at 520-540km. He managed to touch reserve light at 460-480km. So far full tank i can reach 620km.

Hope it helps

the strength of the latio is definitely is interior comfort.

even my 5 years old cvt latio, whenever colleagues or friends sat in it for the first time, they always express surprise at its interior spacious and built quality, saying its really solid and quiet.

but weakness is its handling which is okay for normal driving in singapore roads.

mine was changed one time... but the good part didnt last long as well..
so i didnt bother changing it.. as the tan chong ppl says no safety issues...
