if no iphone>> try marbella gps... cheap and good (same functions are those branded ones) + free map to rent..

2.99 USD for the SG + MSIA one bro. Go to the app store and search navfone. You will see it with the "SG + MY"

Hi bro Ivan, dat is alot cheaper compare to those GPS selling at retail shops man. But 1 issue, will i be able to connect the map in msia? i wun be able to access 3G in msia bro. Need ur advice.

Bro. Do a search on http://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/navfone-singapore-malaysia/id415263173?mt=8
NO GPRS/DATA CHARGES:
The navigation & map data are completely downloaded into your iPhone and no GPRS/data charges apply when using the NAVFone as a GPS navigator or digital street directory. NAVFone hence is ideal for visitors, tourists and travelers who want to avoid costly data roaming charges.

So far, I'm using Papago, after latest updates, still workable for me. Concurrently directing using GPS and recording at the same time like a black box recorder.

Thanks alot for d advice bro Ivan!
Bro wooks, u r using the papago gps or the iphone type? I oso saw papago in the apps. It is much more ex dan the navfone gps.

Just a word of caution, the GPS will try to calculate the shortest route to your destination hence may use side road instead of highway in KL. User may need to do simulation run on your GPS to understand the route before taking off.

I'm using apps, the pro version, singapore & Malaysia map. Pro version comes with this additional feature, an directional pop out box when u travel on high way, informing driver to go straight or move out to get to your destination. After I bought, I syn to both iPad & iphone.

Bro wooks, so how u find the pro version? Izit accurate n updated? The price difference between the lite n the pro version is usd10.

Bought about a year ago, should be abt US$20+. I can't confirm the accuracy but for pt to pt in sg, some times, they go for the sub road. I would prefer expressway. But in Malaysia, no choice, die die follow the gps direction, rather then I can't get to the destination. Updates it really depends on the company. For me, gps is an assistance, ultimate decision still I will decide which direction to go. If wrong the gps, got the re-route function, which I can follow again.

For navfone n sygic >> u can get SG + MSIA map
CONFIRM use gsm network (no data charges one) . I tried before in malaysia.. Very accurate...
Personally i prefer navfone.. cos the search by postal code function is more accurate
I got a marbella gps too.. but ever since i got navfone.. this gps is parking in my glove compartment haha

I use the Papago, quite good, bought 2 years ago and got free map update at their office at Ubi 3 months ago.
Last Dec went to Kukup. Coming back around 6.30pm the GPS asked me to enter one small road. Once i turn in, i saw only oil palm plantation, few guys sitting on road side 100 metres away, i immediately 3-point-turn back and go on the main road again towards Pontian. I guess that quiet plantation road is a short-cut, u will come out from Gelang Patah, long ago i travelled before in the morning. By the way, i think GPS usually direct u to the shortest route. So when travelling at night, be careful.
KL, once coming back, gone into an area with many tall buildings, the GPS keeps recalculating itself. Have to rely on signboards to come back, I think i follow the Seremban and Johor signboards.
