which mechanical key? the one with the big head or the one slotted into the ikey?
-
try soxxi at toh guan.
i also cannot find my spare mechanical key, so that time did called them to enquire about cost and procedure, i think about $200 if i am not wrong.
you need to drive your car down to be done on the spot.

The one with the big head..
Thx for the reply.

Tat key can be duplicate at any shop.....
-
Ok..
So that key got no chip inside?
-
Tat key can be duplicate at any shop.....
okay, this one was told to be by the guys at Soxxi, no sure they smoke me or not.
for the mechanical key, although it can be duplicate at any shop, it can only be used to open your car doors but it can't start your car engine because of the immoboliser chip inside.
-
Ya. Thats the one i am asking..
Shop has to re- program the manual key with the chip inside
Else the car wont be able to start..
The tricky part how much is the price?
-
about $200, you can call up Soxxi and confirm the price before going down.

I dun think so cos I did use the mechanical key to open door, start the engine and drive the car.....cos my wife took the ikey to work in her bag (she did not drive the car tat day) and i was stuck with only mechanical key.....
if that is true, then might as well get another ikey
-
shucks, maybe the guys at Soxxi really smoke me, but if true, then what is the purpose of our immoboliser?

Soxxi may not be wrong.....we are talking about the big head mechanical key (not the one slotted into the ikey whereby there is a chip embedded inside)
unless the big head mechanical key also has a chip embedded inside....let me check it out tonite....and post my findings......

Yup our mechanical key works è same as modern bikes equipped wif an embedded chip inside è black plastic key holder. U can juz duplicate a spare but when u crank ur engine nothin will happen.
For m/cycles we usually will duplicate a spare to open compartments, fuel cap or side panniers while warmin up engine but u cant ignite ur engine wif juz dat ordinary duplicate key...
For bikes it cost abt 40-70 bucks to duplicate chip keys. As for our latio, my advice is go make another i-key ($200++) rather than duplicate è mechanical key. More worth it if u get wat i mean
-
I duplicated my mechanical key for $180 at a Soxxi branch at AMK Ave 6 market. The i-key they quote me about $300, if I remember correctly.
-
if you need to do a new iKey, Nissan might be a better choice.
I did a new iKey in August. Went to Nissan instead of Soxxi as the price with Nissan was better.
They did a reprogram for my old iKey together with the new iKey.
-
can try the key shop at turf city. was quoted $120 when i lost the key and need to hand over to dealer.

I have one spare set for sale at $50. Bought from TCM but hardly used, hence in good condition.
You need to re-program.
