Engine Grade Difference
Fully Synthetic Characteristics
0W-30 Enhances engine performance and power
0W-40 Fuel economy savings
5W-40 Ensures engine is protected from wear and deposit build-up
Ensures good cold starting and quick circulation in freezing temperatures
Gets to moving parts of the engine quickly
It means all the above all have similar characteristics
Semi-synthetic Characteristics
5W-30 Better Protection
10W-40 Good protection within the first 10 minutes after starting out
15W-40 Roughly three times better at reducing engine wear
Increased oil change intervals - don't need to change it quite so often
Mineral Characteristics
10W-40 Basic protection for a variety of engines
15W-40 Oil needs to be changed more often
-
Oil type Typically used in....
5W-30 Cooler climates, like Sweden
10W-40 Temperate climates, like England
15W-50 Hot climates, like Italy, Spain, Egypt (Singapore???)

IMHO, flash point of the oil is more important when it comes to choosing the oil for your ride, if you take a look at the US site for mobil, the extended life 5w30 has a 230

Well ... agreed in some sense. ;D
Just bascially I found that those sold in Giant aint extended life de. And from knownledge I do know higher performance car always uses 50 min.
For me ... I stick to 40 ... :)

agreed. forced induction cars generated lots of heat and thus needs to have oils that will only break down a extremely high temperatures, even those performance cars that do not have FI, compression will generally be hgiher too. As for the Mobil 1 sold at Giant not being extended life oil, no proble at all, extended life are meant for 15,000 miles (24,000km) we can only use it for 10,000km or else our warranty might be voided by TCM. ;D

Go for Full Syn if possible. Anyway .. I think rarely sells Semi these days.

Anyone tried OWS NA Racing Oil before? I am going for my 30k km servicing soon and wouldn't want to return to TCM.

Hi,
I gng for my 10k soon. last free servicing with TC. Does anyone know how much must I pay if I opt for syn oil?
Cos only mineral oil is free....
-
All I know that if you are charged the "full amount" for Fasflo, it's going to be very expensive - about $79.
You might as well go to MX Tradings @ Ubi (ref. COmmercial Promotion section) or http://www.mxtradings.com/Amsoil%20Pricelist.htm and buy the ASL 5W30 100% Synthetic Motor Oil...U'll need at least 3 quarts, but just buy 4 quarts to be safe. I'm sure alot of Lations are using it as well from the good feedback.
Personally, this EO still remains as good/smooth as day 1 (currently about 6000km on it already) unlike Fasflo, at which the engine would be starting to sound rough already.

will TC charge us for bringing our own syn oil? cos labour suppose to be free as it my 3rd servicinig

Hey guys,
I found a source online for Mobil 1 0w40 EO, labelled "Made in EU" for $70 imported from Germany.
Can I check whether the Mobile 1 EO manufactured in EU has the same ingredients as what we purchased in Singapore?
Those who have bought from this online source above and used on your ride before, could you please share me your experience?
thanks alot

Just serviced at Mxtrading, instead of buying 4L of EO I buy only 3 smaller bottle of EO just enough for Latio oil change. Each is ~$15 depend on brand + $6 OEM filter + $12 labour. My case was $67.50 all in for simple oil change.
They do have mobil 1 oil but I am not sure that is want you are looking for.

But if you signing for this NPMP packages, will it deduct the EO oil if you are bringing it yourself?
For AS, I think they will deduct the EO from the package.

Guys ... I tested with ChemLube the Oil is superb .... :yehyeh:
