dun waste the money to take the open cat unless u dun have to top up which i presume not possible and u have to look at which month the open cat belong to then u will know how much the cat A value for ur car.

In your other post, you mentioned something like "it looks like many people are not accepting the Open Category".  Are you being offered the Open Cat too?  If so, what's the disadvantage in accepting the Open Category?

i was offered open cat at 13k+. was told by my SE no need to top up. most pple dun wan to take up open cat now is bcos come Mar, we can get 10% ARF rebate which amt to 1.4k, which can b directly less off from the car price and when we scrapped the car, we lose less due to the new OMV %.

Thanks Eclaire.  This is true if we are sure of getting a COE within 6 bids.  Otherwise, there is a risk.  TCM will most probably bid higher and give priority to new orders as the price is up by 3K.  It is a gamble here.

bros here, we need to consider carefully. day 1 my SE told me most of his clients dun wan to take up open cat. today i twice carefully n thought that i shld b taking the open cat. juz to share my own opinion.... car price up 3k, meaning TCM expects COE to escalate n not down. if lose another 1 bid, SE sure want me to top up. COE price keep going up, i may have to use up the 1.4k arf rebate n mayb top up. its a gamble. since i need the car urgently, no point waiting till mar then take up open cat.

anyway, my SE told me today, dunno if still got open cat available liao... makes me sian.... now take taxi even more expensive.  :(

Sincerly hope those who are waiting for COE to get their bids soon

BTW I feel paiseh to say that my SM one shot one kill get the COE. I don't think your SE did it on purpose given the current situation, more like they underestimated the situation

Just like to share what I know abt Open CAT. When TCM bid 3-4 times never tio, they will give U the open Cats. Reason simple, they need to address to customers who book but never tio.

Usually CATE is higher a few K than Cat A. so they can buy a few piece and keep for a few months then transfer to u guys for situation like this.

Friend of mine bought Toyota PICNIC from BM. Then COE shoot like no tomorrow by 4th bid, but BM give my friend the Cat E for last month, so he tell me he FXXking happy coz CAT E transferrable and he profitted due to higher cost of the COE.

the COE he tio was valued at 14K  :zipped:

Hey bros/sisters.

I only lost the first bidding for the 1st round of January, tio on the 2nd round. Want to know the ironic thing is? I lost to a mere $1!

1st round January bidding COE Price - $14, 052.
My bid at that time - $14, 051.

HAHAHAHA! Imagine that time i keep refreshing the page to see my latest bid, only to realise I lost becoz of $1.  ::) I truly understand the meaning of $1 bcoz i need to wait for another 2 weeks for the 2nd round. Nevertheless, I already got my Latio Sedan, and LOVING IT!!!  ;D

Was offered by SE a open cat at $13,800. But that month, cat A was at $12001. Which dun really worth it. And yet call me to top up. $500!. siao. crazy. then e SE also cannot tahan me. help e pay $200. call me pay $300. also Dun worth it.

Question:
If we still dun get our car for 3 to 4th bid.. and COE shoot up high. do we need to top up for e increase in COE. cos i doubt so as we alreadly agreed for e amount when we purchase e car, and if coe go high. is company buiness. not our buiness right ?

Hi Bro, I think I may have misunderstood what you said.  I suppose you meant you were offered a Open Cat COE in February and that Open Cat COE was secured by TCM in November 2007.  If so, then it is possible.  It is not a February 2008 Open Cat COE.  In that case, you got a good deal as the Cat A value in Nov 2007, though is lower than the Open Cat in Nov 2007, it is higher than the Cat A coe in February 2008.

well, if u got the time to wait, den wait it out since i haven't heard of any cases where anyone don't get their COE by the 6th bid..

was also asked if i wanted to top to get the open cat COE, which was an additional 1k.. my decision was to wait it out.. so in the end, never top up la.. just needed to wait longer..

In fact, I quite enjoy it.  It is exciting and similar to watching horse racing, especially if the premium is close to your reserved bid placed by TCM.  Then you start contacting your SE on whether TCM will push up your bid.

I lost 2 bid in month of February.

Last bid, TCM only bid 12050k for me. Was pissed off becos the COE closed at 12850k. I told her everyone know COE is going up... why TCM do not secure the bid now, if not the COE will go up further. She told me the bid price is set by management, she got no say.

I was even more pissed, I told her that TCM is only willing to bid at 12000k at every round, then dun bother, refund me my money and let me move on. I rather let other ppl earn my money. She say bo bian and ask me to top up 1k for Open Cat.. or top up a few hundred dollars more for the next bid....

Today

My SE sms me to top up 1k to try to secure the COE in the next week bid. She told me that she is submitting rebid by tomorrow and "current batch people already paying 63500 after disc. Since your ARF rebate is around 1500...suggest to increase bid by 1k to get a good chance ..."

I reply her that i remember she told me

1) TCM does not practice asking customers to top up for COE
2) Bid price is determined by management

She replied saying she say "TCM DOES NOT FORCE CUSTOMERS to top up COE bid... your Package include many freebies which will eventually affect co's cost.... U in biz (i told her i am self employed) so u know the cost factor."

WTF....

I told her off .... TCM obviously cannot force customers to top up... the selling price of the car is determined by TCM, not me... if they cannot project their cost on the COE correctly when they priced the car... how can they shift the cost to the customer? In business, does not mean always have to make $$, an agreement is an agreeement... lost $$ also have to honour agreement...

THE BEST REPLY YET:

"Why don't u consider now that the coe will be going up higher. your arf rebate is a windfall which means the overall car price is lesser....."

WTFF...

I already told her 2 weeks ago COE is going up...and TCM does not want to bid at 12850k to secure it... she is reminding me of how TCM is screwing us the customers....

My guess is that they purposely let go the COE in Feb... and wait until March and get the customer to top up with their own $$ from the so called "windfall" and to avoid losing $$ on the rising COE.

Wat rubbish... the ARF rebate is only a paper gain... when we scrap the car... the scrap value will also be similiarly lower...

I have really regretted booking the car with TCM.... and the thought of having to wait for another 4 more bid (2 months) of nonsense from them really pissed me off.... knowing that they probably will continue to bid at 12000k and evey other 2 weeks will ask me to top up for COE....

Sigh....  I will not top up for the COE ... I rather not get the car also... waste time...

hello bro pslok,

take it easy leh...seems like many of us have same situation, lost 2 bids marginally...
but looking @ bright side, wif arf rebate & hopefully coe will go up up up!  :cool2:
then resale of our car will be better...
btw, ur SE told u 63500 aft disct is for which latio? base/premium/sport/sport cvt?
i same thot as u, won't top up $, the most just lose the all 6th bids, and "thank" my SE for wasting my time, but i doubt tt will happen. anyway, my SE also told me not to top up. prob u suck ur SE too much, she trying to get some back from u :devil2:

actually, the top-up request is usually done by TCM and not ur SE la.. & esp if u have already squeeze ur SE quite dry on the commission, also difficult to ask them to cover the top-up la.. in any case, if u are not in a hurry to get the car, just wait for the bids la.. know so far, there ain't any case in 6 bids, no 1 got their car.. it's just a matter of time..

so it's patience, bro!!

Bro PSLok, dun feel upset! i also questioned my SE abt Feb bidding, he said TCM PURPOSELY lost the Feb bids to give us the chance of getting the ARF rebate. My question is y didn't TCM inform us n let us decide if we want to lose the bid or get the ARF rebate. Whatever their reason, i was also quite pissed s i need the car urgently.

right from the beginning, i already told my SE i DIE DIE also dun wan to top up. i will not top up or get the open cat from Feb. i'll juz wait till i got the new COE n get my rebate. at most i juz shake hands with my SE n take back deposit. I'll juz go over to Honda n buy Jazz.  ;D dun get too pissed.

Dear Bro wongplnn,

I bought the latio sport cvt... so i guess the SE is refering to the same model...

I only got free floor mat, one extra intelligent key and car lock system as a freebie from the SE.. dun think i squeeze her too much... maybe becos i m taking 50% loan... so her commission is lesser..

Sigh.. anyway thanks for the comforting words from everyone...

Hee hee, i am now looking at buying Honda Airwave instead... so maybe it is a blessing in disguise...

Good luck for all who is bidding in this week COE

Hi Eclaire,  Got to see the overall deal.  Besides the percentage of loan, also need to see the duration of loan.  Also got to see other freebies.   For instance, did you get extra cash discount?  The other bro just mentioned the ikey, but no mention on cash discount.  Thought quite normal to get some cash discount, which may be more than offset the $198 ikey.  [I not in car sales industry.  So, am not trying to defend the SE.  Just trying to see things in perspective.]

Cheers!

The price the SE offered me was 60112. not sure whether got cash discount.....

Dunno want to continue to wait... this week bid is already the 3rd bid... seems to me TCM will not increase their COE bid for me to secure... so i thought no point wasting each other time..

If this coming bid still cannot get the COE, maybe i will go and ask for a refund on my deposit... though it stated 6 bids...

There is such thing in law called "unfair contract" and also it seems they are unwilling to fulfil the agreement ... haha... so can use to whack TCM to give me back my deposit.

Which model is yours that cost nett price of 60112?  Also, are you currently driving a nissan car?  (There is a loyalty discount of $500, if you are.)

Hi all Bros, I have LOST the 3rd BID today. Straight 3 loses. Thanks to TCM n my SE. Now I get very PISSED OFF liao. last month told SE that i will juz take the open cat n not wait, was told to wait s he is confident to get it this round. now he say TCM relunctant to increase bid. I will not take the open cat already. since i waited for such long time, might s well wait further n even finish the 6 bids so that i can buy a Honda Jazz liao.

Cheer up! Dun gv up!
In fact, it might be a good sign. The COE is picking up. I never heard TCM hv to refund the money back. If for the next 3 rounds the COE keep raising, then you can expect higher value of COE and best for your resale value. I got a feel that TCM will die die bid for you (only when?). Just keep the cool and consider carefully when ask to top up COE or take Open Cat. All provided you are no hurry in getting the car. All the best!

Don't mean to rub salt.  I ever asked a SE on whether TCM had ever failed to secure a coe for customer within 6 bids.  Answer is "Yes".  It happened more than once, though the last time was not that recent.  Just sharing facts.

Dear all

sad to hear U guys & gals din get it. The COE price shot up as I predicted. I do not mean to rub salt or say buy other makes sure will get COE, but looking at current trends, very difficult for U all that booked CNY promo will ever get your car in the next 3 bids, coz COE will shoot like no tomorrow, most likely need to top up. Thats what my SM tell me for worse case scenario.

What I understand is the COE price stated in your contract is minimum refund sum, so they use the car price to factor in the difference and variance during bids, most SE will have limited access to bid max for their customers. Only certain lao jiaos. Let me reassure that the SE are not exactly wanting to earn more coms from U although there is a certain % of such thinking, which I'd do too, but the coms come bigger if they close your deal sooner right? not to mention the car loans etc.

Would suggest eclaire not to switch Jazz, coz by the time u switch to jazz u need to pay current factored COE pricing, which is rocketing, why not just top up a little in TCM and get the deal close, I am sure can work out with SE to top a bit, since TCM mgt limited their bidding powers.
Title: Re: How many bids have u lost?
Post by: jliow on March 05, 2008, 10:47:31 PM
The price the SE offered me was 60112. not sure whether got cash discount.....

Dunno want to continue to wait... this week bid is already the 3rd bid... seems to me TCM will not increase their COE bid for me to secure... so i thought no point wasting each other time..

If this coming bid still cannot get the COE, maybe i will go and ask for a refund on my deposit... though it stated 6 bids...

There is such thing in law called "unfair contract" and also it seems they are unwilling to fulfil the agreement ... haha... so can use to whack TCM to give me back my deposit.

Not to put TCM high, but u ask so much things from her and then she now high and dry, think she not making any from this sales, only TCM making. She just wanna close sales and not earn coms from U to stay on the job. its a tough line for these pple

Just check TCM website.  The car price has got up by another 1.5K.  This 1.5K plus the previous round of increase of 3K will add up to an increase of 4.5K.  Looks like TCM is prepared for yet another round of increase in coe in two weeks time.  For a difference of 4.5K, it will definitely be much less profitable for TCM to "honor" and deliver cars to those who paid the CNY promotion price, which also comes with free first year insurance (of up to $1,200) and another 6 months free road tax (another $400+). (The only promotion item currently on is the free 2.5 years maintenance package, which cost slightly over 1K.)  Realistically, the going seems tough.  Think the coe quotas from april will be reduced (correct me if I am wrong).  This means that the fight for coe in the second round of march will be no less competitive.  Just within a month, we are talking about a price difference of $4.5K (excluding the differences in the worth of other promotion package from TCM).  Not sure how big is the price difference for other brands of cars over this one month period.  Just sharing my thoughts.

If u need a car, no point waste time for 3 more bids and then change to another car...
with coe shooting up, at the end you still need to pay more...

Be cool, try to discuss the option with your SE, try to get the open cat coe from your SE  ;D

my colleagues are very surprised that TCM fail to secure COE for 3 bids. those who buy last week sure can get the COE cos their car price already factored in the COE hike whereas for us buying at CNY shld secured at ard $12k. although i was informed that i'll get the open cat, until the car is registered then its confirmed. luckily for me, i need not top up to get the open cat. think i'll not buy from TCM the 2nd time.

The open cat 13K think was my batch one, they usually buy a few to standby, bro wong a bit suay coz no more liao take the more ex ones.......think if U more assertive, he will listen la. Thinking of the other side, he trying to get best deal for U, on the other hand, maybe he can get better deal out of it, trying his luck only. But the fact is he cannot close deal proper he will kena upside down by management, but his team lead should be supervising them. Dun know what happen as the line got a lot of newbie and "dark" side.

Dun blame TCM, its the pple incompetent. I booked mine from the most senior guy there, so everything was done swee swee. No worries, sometimes U need to know and get the right pple to do the job

i'm not rich, so must always go for "bestest deal", otw, would be going for BMW
if i get coe in 1st bid, then it's gd deal. if i get latest coe now wifout top up, it's fantastic deal. if lose all 6 bids coz i dun want to top up, will walk away frustrated yes, but it's a personal decision so LL have to live with it...personal opinion, no offence to any1 ;D

Think yours is the 13.8K open cat, not 13.1K.  If so, the paper value is worth $12,001 as Cat A.  Since the coe is before march, don't think you will get the 10% ARF rebate (I may be wrong).  However, in actual fact, you do not "lose out" for the full 10% ARF rebate as your car's value will be higher.  Assuming you use the car for 10 full years, the difference in cost is only 5% of ARF.  If you change car earlier, the difference in cost will be even smaller.  At least all the agony of waiting is over.

Cheers!

I did not get the bid this time round.... as expected..

my SE sms me... "TC tried the best despite u did not want to top up the bid... TC revised your bid to 12850 (compared to last bidding 12050) ... They have tried their best and i am equally disappointed as u."

Then follow by:

"Just came out from meeting with mgt fighting for unsuccessful coe case. Mgmt has secured some open cat coe from opem at either 13300 or 13801, Mgt will subsidised some amt but will still charge 1300 if u are keen on the open cat..."

OMG!!!

My SE probably think i m a ********

1) The revised bid of 12850 is still far short of the closing bid of at the time of bidding... TC only up the bid to 12850 (coincidentally with last bid COE) to justify they have tried their best

2) Top up amount of 1300 based on open cat 13300. i.e 13300-1300 = 12000 , which is the maximum COE TCM will bid for my case.

3) Then they might as well ask me to top up at 2nd bid extra 850 to get the COE... why wait till now..

4) If TC had tried their best and is sincere to their customer, then they should have asked me to top up 13300-12850 (based on the 3rd bid) = 450... rite?

Man... this ppl are really too much... think customers are all at their mercy...

My guess is at the CNY offer, TC have done their sum wrongly and push their mistake to the customer....

It is really ******** to sell a car based on COE of 12000 when everyone knows that COE will definitely go up after Feb...

By the way, i did not squeeze the SE to give me the 60112 price... she is the one who agreed to the price with the things i asked for...

Also, I was offered by another SE car price of 59500 becos one of my business contact is a childhood friend of one of the brother in the TC family...

But becos i test drive the car earlier with the present SE and was told my "name" was logged in the TC's database... if i switch SE will create conflict... also i feel paiseh since the present SE help me to get the bank loan approval, etc...

So in the end, i decided to order from the present SE despite i can save at least $500 more...

I guess the morale of the story is :

Ask your SE how much is the COE bid based on the car price they are selling you.... in this way... you know whether the price is realistic ....

and trust no one... not even a AD of the size of TC...

Moving on... I have decided not to top up a single cent... maybe will top up maximum the free abalone they gave during the CNY promo which i have not collected yet.... if TCM really wants me to top up to increase my COE bid for the next 3 rounds of bid...

Now looking at Honda Airwave instead... any bro interested to mass purchase ??

bro, u r funny ;D ;D
and yes, they think we are goondu's. my SE said almost the same to me, but nicer, he say he will personally top up 300 (instead of mgt, tho i think is load of bull), while i top up 700 to get the 13.8k...
wat pisses me off is that the SE told me that last bid "TCM wants all customer to enjoy the arf rebate and they predict COE will go up", that's y we lost it." and yet this is wat happen in this bid, and they just dun wan2 give us the coe...anyway, SE say they will have another meeting to address the customer concerns on Mon, let's c wat they have to say. my SE was apologising profusely, i believe he kena big time by some customers...he din know why is like tt, so i duno wat to believe, just wait till mon.

oh man... i share the same sentiments... i was asked to top up $1300 today too...

looking for the past 3 bids... 11850, 12050 and yest's 12850. It's obvious that they increase the amount to put up a show... what is the percentage/probability of the COE price going lower than current for the next bid? and they jus bid the same amount as per previous price...

do they really wana make a deal with us? that ponders.......

anyway i'm not going to add anymore amount too... if dun have, so be it.. hehe

i might be looking at CNG cars now... who knows wat models they have in the market? i heard honda stream has.. is it true?

When your SE makes the offer and you accept, that is a binding agreement already.  He cannot add in other conditions subsequent and ask you to top-up.  Think you will get your car real soon as they do not need that many days to prepare your car.

Wah! This means that if no top up is required, his commission is quite substantial.

Anyone want to make a guess on the COE premium for this current bid?  Will the increase be less than 1K, 1-2K,  or more?  (Just trying to make the mood light as bro/sis here waiting for their coe are anxious.)  Cheers!

Jilat liao la.  From next bid, the gaverment cut down quota liao.  TCM web site shows price of latio go up again.  The listed price on the web for Latio Premium is $68,500.  Even after all kind of discount, still much higher than the price you booked 2 months ago.  Not trying to be wet blanket, just being realistic.  Still, wish you all the best.

I think if the increase in COE premium is more than the profit margins which TCM factored in when you signed the purchase agreement, likely you will not get the COE unless you willing to topup or for the COE to go downtrend.

Can refer to LTA website to find our the OMV + COE + ARF + Excess Duty + GST.  This is the price where TCM need to declare to LTA. Selling price minus the above amount is their profit margin.

The listed price on TCM web site is $68,500.  The nett amount is a few K cheaper after all the usual discount (such as in-house finance and insurance, ex-stock, etc.).  Guess you must have cancelled your purchase agreement with TCM.  Otherwise, you may end up with two cars.

I thought we sign some kind of agreement form when we confirm our order... it states that within the 6 bids period we are not allow to have any other COE bidding by another company...

may be I'm wrong or you may be using open cat for the other car you going to buy...
and if not open cat, then can two company use the same name to bid the COE for u????  :confused1:

bro alan
coe is indeed more expensive, but bueh song tcm for playing with us, so like to do some "homework" 1st before meeting them...
before y'day had short listed a few: airwave (i like but alot of taxi's are this), rush (wife likes), axio
y'day was looking at continental cars...some r out of reach tho :D
kinda impressed by safety features of renault megane (69k before negotiate), after seeing the papers on the family car crash, feel sad for the family :crycry: so now am also looking at features of NCAP 5 stars cars...
like the exterior of the peugeot 207 (74k before negotiatie) but interior quite basic
continental cars tho r usually less fuel economy which is a big thing on my list, latio is still a winner in this department and the latio interior is better as well.
will pm u when i arranged something with my SE
going back camp 2nite...sianz...out pro on tues
cheers

hi all,

despite we went down to complain to the sales manager, they are not doing or showing any effort to help us get our bid... that's disappointing!!

The result is, they bidded mine at 3:15pm (which abit too early!) at a price of a mere $12k+ (lower than what they bidded for me the last round i.e. abt $13.8k) Then they stopped trying as usual, thinking 1 bid they will get it for us... Does it show they are trying their best by placing a bid so early n not even bother to top up another $1 to increase chances?? (i'd experienced this for the 5th time!!)

The game i supposed they are playing for those who placed their orders back in feb where COE are at $12k, is to make them feel anxious and worried on the rise of COE prices. Therefore they will eventually top up... That's what i felt at least though it might be wrong... Tell me, if i am

Being in this automobile business, don't the management realise that price of COE is going to go up from end Jan when the news of cut of 10% ARF kicked in (where more pple will consider buying car) and later when the quota reduced announced by the govt? Don't they want to close a deal asap?

Whatever it is, Nissan has not shown professionalism in handling customers needs and giving their best for a satisfied customer.
This jus kills off another customer who is keen on getting a nissan car initially....

(i jus wish i knew the nissan jap head and let him know the situation TCM is handling, poorly)

Hi Rodrigue

Understd ur anger...
Well, like many 5th timers, move on la...find another car. Forget TCM!
Initially, I oso thinking Airwave, Axio.. superd FC too & spacious but finally decided to
stick to current monster FC Tucson for another 1~2 yrs then c how.

So cheer up Bro!

Hi LP,
Good choice!
COE higher chance than TCM!! :yehyeh:

Since yours not ex-stock, may have to wait.... they have some queueing system to allocate cars in their warehouse (unless the new stock already arrive and they din manage to secure coe to clear them).  Hence, should call your SE to find out.  The value of your car's paper value is the actual coe premium, not the bid amount.  No need to top up for you.

congrats gwen, tt means  u no need top up liao...good for u. top up normally happens when tcm lost bid, they will give u an option to secure open cat coe few months ago, which normally is lower then current coe. they will normally buy some open cat coe few months ago and use it for customers who are willing to top up, or had paid extra for guaranteed coe. e.g if coe this month is 16.9k, while when i sign the coe is 12k, tcm will ask me to top up at least 1k for open cat coe of 13.8k. Or this month is 16.9k coe, and uu paid for guranteed coe bid, they can also give u the open cat coe but without top up, since u already "top up" initially for the guaranteed coe

haha bro, if they are selling their 08 models now.. what happen to their 07 models? keeping for museum purposes? lol...

no choice bro... gotta wait till the game ends... haha.. now so ex.. i oso abit hesistant to get immediately... waiting for the market to cool down first ba... hopefully at the next bid! haha

Since TCM is now selling 08 model, not sure whether they still have 07 stock.  If not, does it mean that ppl who book ex-stock (at ex-stock price) will not get it after all.  Just thinking aloud.

sorry to hear that some of u haf failed 2 secure the bid. think TCM really wan to forgo the Feb contract biz. hard for them to bid above 14k when ur bid is supposed to b ard 12k. think they rather forgo than make losing biz. so far, only 1 person jump ship to buy Honda Airwave... good judgement instead of waiting for tcm.

Hi All,

Did not get the COE as expected... TCM only bid 12500 this time round.... 1 more bid to go...then can get back my deposit...

SE smsed my wifey ask whether want to top up for next bid... so i guess TCM is playing games with us... bid low this time round and force us to top up for next bid...

Really no standard... such a big company resort to this kind of tactic..

Got my Honda Airwave already... will collect car end of May due to installation of CNG... only 1 bid secure COE already.

Sigh, I always thought AD are more ethnical than PI, but seems like i was proven wrong.

Anyway for those interested in Airwave, this is the package i got:

Model : M with Retractable Skyroof with digital aircon

Leathers seat, 14" sport rims , Sony MP3 player, reverse sensor.. other accessories cannot remember

Price  : 69000 (Promotion Price, think now market about 71000)

OMV : 22000

After CNG Rebate, etc Final Price = 63999

If you are interested, pls pm me, i give you my SE contact, quite ok... at least dun bullshit me like the TCM's SE.

By the way, did you guys collected your abalone ... given free during the CNY promo...

I have not got mine ... think my SE bring home and eat it herself... haha

Wonder if TCM will give me my abalone gift when i go and get my deposit... wahaha

Besides Bukit Timah, Toa Payoh, Ubi, there are other authorised agent (as advertised in the papers, such as the one in Ang Mo Kio etc).  Looks like different places can offer different prices.  When heard from friends that they got different prices quoted from different agent, out of curiosity, I called 3 of them for the same model type.  The difference in nett price quoted can be more than 1K.  Terms and conditions (such as in-house finance loan of 30K and in-house insurance etc) are the same for all 3 of them.  Puzzled?????

Hi Andy,  Can share how much you were asked to top up?  With the top up, think you still pay much lower than the current selling price.  Which model is yours?

Hi, ok here goes my full story.

1st bidding TCM bid 11k plus & coe closed 12002.

2nd bidding TCM bid 12k plus & coe closed 13k plus--My SE ask me to top up a small amt b4 going next bidding. (amt 2h~5h) told her i dun wan

3rd bidding TCM bid 12k plus again & coe closed 14k plus liao.---call & ask SE how as my trade in old car insurance & rd tax is expiring on Apr. She say boh bian is TCM decision bcos i dun wan top up. LL & pissed of with TCM....

So i told her i want to downgrade my car from sport to sedan version, change of color & use the 1k diff as a top up. Of course 2h deduted for admin & 60 i use to buy visor. so act top up 740.

4th bidding TCM bid 13k plus but still cannot kena. So this round she say give me an open cat abt will reg at 12002 bcos she say 5th bidding chances is even slim. So i accepted.

Actually i bought my car b4 cny & TCM should at bid at a higher px since the coe only increased $1 compare to the previous bidding. Dunno wat r they up to since they are clearing stock.

anyway with the top up my buying px is still 57100 for a sedan which now is abt 64k if i am not wrong........

Thanks, BlackieLatio for sharing.  Is yours 4AT or CVT?  Anyway for the 64K price, it is rather confusing.  TCM quoted 64K nett for a CVT now.  But I called up the Nissan Authorised Agent at Ang Mo Kio, the quoted price was 61K nett for a CVT.  The conditions are the same as TCM, which are: (a) at least 30K loan and (b) in-house insurance.  No other condition.  It means a price difference of 3K, at least.  In both cases, we have not talked about freebies yet.  It should be the same quality car as both are importing from Japan.  Really confusing pricing scheme for the same car but sold by different agent, though both are also Nissan's authorised agent.

Mine is 4AT...........though with top up i am lucky to get it if not now u buy other make car the px has increased too.

Bro, cannot be so much diff leh as the px is control bt TCM. Maybe u can make a trip down to AMK 150 to check with them.

Ya lor, so much difference.  That is exactly what that is puzzling.  Since I got mine Latio already, not going to check la. Called them our of curiosity only la.  So far, am satisfied with my ride, especially the spacious cabin.  One potential problem is the FC.  Mine seems to be no where close to what many bro/sis here get.  Hope will improve overtime.

Mine is a CVT.  My first tank was 14km/l.  After 1st servicing at 1000km, it has dropped to 12.5.  Some bro/sis here say it is the myth about poor FC after servicing.  However, some others do not experience this.  Hope mine will improve back to 14km/l at least.  I loyal to Shell.  Also 95 ron.

pretty much the same story. bought in b4 CNY.
TCM very unprofessional, esp when all my other frens who got it from AD during this period all got their cars...vios, civic,mazda3, suzuki sx4
some more after feb 2nd bid COE is 12.8k, din get it, my SE told me clearly that "the management wants all customer to go into March bid to enjoy the 10% rebate & also TCM predict COE will go up, so customers will benefit even more"...however, comes March & April, exact scenario, but SE unable to deliver his promise, and the so called "management" i met say that nothing of this was transpired to the SEs, my SE also ganna sandwiched...
anyway, this is my side of the story...which I believe the same crap & lies were told to many others  who's in same situation...
moral of my story: SE not in the fault, TCM management, directors, are the ones playing bast***d, while the poor SE and SM are the ones meeting angry customers and yet powerless to act, because they are told to "hold ur customers till 6th bid and we'll c how it goes with COE then, make them itch and top up"
hands up whoever agrees with me! :cursing:

HI Guys,

My SE juz called me... ask me to top up $1300... she absorb $300... so i top up another $1000k for the last bid.

Funny har.... I asked her top up $1000k to get $17000 COE or $13000 Open Cat from Feb.

She stunned.

I told her you make me wait 6 bids and still need to top up to get a $13000 COE Open Cat from Feb... obviously wasting my time right.

She blame on the TCM management... then I told her how am I supposed to trust her company after this?

sigh...

nevertheless, I admire her for still daring to call me to ask me to top up... wow..

haha.. urs not bad liao.. still bother to call u... mine didnt even try...

watever it is, TCM Ubi is a wrong choice to buy from. I heard my friend who bought from another authorised dealer from AMK, got it easily oso...

Think we need to start a new thread "TCM Ubi, a great disappointment" or something like dat.. if not, there may be more pple who have to wait like us...

Does Good deal have to equate to Lesser Priority, Less concern?? If so, don't bother to price that in future...

I'm thinking, do we need to wait so long if we'd decided to change another brand/model. If we buy another car of different make like pslok did, took a loan from the same bank which we took from Tan Chong, having the loan approved in the new car, i think our loan application for Tan Chong would definitely be harder to approve or not even a chance to get approved.

Is that so?

bro, for TCM, it's more of "there is no such thing as good deal till the deal is closed..."
i dun believe their pricing is without buffer as well. instead tcm is very cautious in their pricing
compare with BM & KM, their COE rebate is usually 1k below the previous COE.  TCM? i remember was 3.5k lower than previous COE. means that they so kiasi...so such a kiasi company, how can not have buffer for us leh...just playing us only la...anyway, we can only wait and c how they wan2 play this game...i wonder my SE will call me or not, he only sms me to tell me no option for top up this round, all go last bid...

Ya alots of ppl say sure to get coe after 6th unsuccessful bids. But the problem is if they decided not to give out coe due to losses, current buyer will need to book or source another car at a higher px now .

Eg, most of us book in Feb b4 cny at ard 56~57k but now i heard is 64~65k liao.

correct me if i am wrong.

looks like different TCM have different approach, cos my colleague just gotten her latio hatchback 1 week ago... bought around CNY period... gotten the 14k coe at first bidding... and she paid only $58k....so that means not confirm coe right??

Don't mean to rub salt on the wound.  I had shared many weeks ago in this forum that my SE told me that it is not true that sure get coe by 6th bid.  She told me that it ever happened before.  So, this is not the first time.

sure bro! in the case of tcm, it's very true! and it'll be interesting to c that happening next week. if not we wouldn't be slamming those tcm management so much :devil2:...in any case, even if they give me the car without top up, I would still walk away as unhappy customer

What u say is tru bro. This happen to all motor dealers if the COE keep rising & they are having negative margin out from the deal.

Anyway i didn't regret to top up a small amt inorder to get a open cat.

hey guys,

I jus received a call this morning saying that the management wants us to top up $5000 to secure a guaranteed bid on the 6th bid.... my reply is... wtf... i may as well buy another car...

to get this latio, i have to go thru months of waiting and yet need to pay $5000 for their incompetency and they think they are doing it out of  goodwill for us???

what is this??? heard that there's not only a few of us going through this... but the number can be as close as 100 customers....

kaozz..

Hi Guys,

My determined SE called me this evening... ask me to top $6k to get a guarantee COE... haha... i told her i guarantee i will never buy from TCM again.....

Then she offer me to top up $1700 to try for the last time....  wah piang eh... she really determined... she explained the $1700 is due to the ARF rebate of 10% given by the gaverment... so offset... nothing to lose for me...

Sigh... i told her if TCM employed smarter ppl, i would have enjoy the ARF rebate + got my car in Feb instead of wasting 3 mths and end up having to pay extra...

She still have not given up... she say now car price going up and up... better to top up and get the car from TCM...

I told her even if i have to pay more for a car now, i rather get from other agent... why should i let TCM earn my hard earned money this way...

SHE FINALLY GIVEN UP AND END THE CALL BY SLAMMING THE PHONE !! WTF!!!

This Wednesday i am going to TCM to get my deposit back and end this unhappiness once and for all.

By the way, my SE is MagXXXXXX Chua... wonder if any bro have the same SE...

Bro.. relax relax... Some SE really CMI...

i think it all depends on the efficiency of individual SE ba... I think itz heng-suay one lor.. I also agree nowadays I very disappointed in the SE in TCM.. coz I walked into TCM that day with my friend and I asked 1 SE some simple questions abt LAtio and he stammered... and cannot answer me....   :glare:

But the SE I got my car from is quite good la... I got my car first bid.. and she was able to give me some good advice on the COE and stuff.. very detailed abt the car... exterior hand-over condition was not bad.. she even send the papers to my doorstep for me to sign...  and up to now still call me sometimes to check on my ride...

Good service comes with less freebies laaa....  :D

So if u still want a last try with TCM.. u tell me ba.. will give u the contact of my SE... guarantee this one won't slam phone..  :D

hi bro,

Ur SE seems unpro in handling an unhappy customer... Slamming the phone is too much...

The question is why i need to top up only $5k while u need to top up $6k.. where's the difference? My minimum bid is $4500, you cant be $3500 for sure.... so where this additional $1k goes to?

though it's not their fault that they cant secure a bid for us, the other way to outreach to the management is the stir the feelings of the SE?? haha.. man, i'm not going to give a damn..

Bro, i heard from my friend which is also a SE but not in TCM. He told me actually top up amount is not fixed & usually some of it goes into the SE own pocket. She can top up for u maybe 4k to try next bidding & if cannot kena, they will give u an open cat of 12002 0r 13k plus like my case. But i just top up only 1k.

bro spiff my 2 cts...
agree with bro humblecar, probably higher chance with lao jiao SE.
and ubi seems to have lesser chance as well, at least that's what happen to most of us who din get coe until 6/7th bid.
if the coe dun increase too much in next few bids and not many pple buying, u shld have chance to get.  quite many pple were gan cheong to buy after Mar coz worry coe will shoot very high because of new arf rebate policy and coe reduction, now it seems to die of, so coe drop now. if u are desperate to get the car, u can follow the coe bid on actual day closely and top up if u want, although i din top up, so end up 7 bid :bleh:

congrats! good that u got it 1st bid. heard tcm is hard up for sales coz many pple holding back buyin cars. CVT is the premium & 4AT is base. CVT premium comes with adjustable , foldable rear seats, armrest, autolights, side indicator & of course CVT (continuous variable transmission)

Thanks! Yup, very excited! Fell in love with CVT during the test drive so die-die must have CVT even though only white & pearl white left.

Got COE at 14.7k. SE told me when i booked if i didn't strike this round TCM will give me open cat COE. Looks like TCM really kum cheong to get rid of their current stock b4 launching facelifted model in Sept.

Hi Bro,  Don't mind me asking.  How come only have two colors to choose from?

According to the SE, the premium selling like hot cakes so only 2 colors left. TCM will not indent any more stocks as next batch will be facelifted model liao.

But for 4AT & sports edition, still got lots of color choices. But for CVT sedan, only white left. So suck thumb & accept white, lor.  ;D

In fact, even for pearl white, only 1 unit left when i was there 2-3 weeks ago. Looks like this unit got snapped up by someone else.

Is your information updated?

What I know of is that there are only test drive and showroom display units left for the basic Latio 4A/T.

Silver and warm silver titanium available for test drive units.

Amethyst gray and red available for showroom units.

But best to avoid the Silver test drive unit as it has been redlined and E Braked by me with some hard cornering.   :devil2:

The facelifted Latio's changes are purely cosmetic, and is not worth the extra $7,500.

YES!!! The facelifted will be priced at $60,500 if based on current COE prices and $53,000 that the YOM2007 Latio basic sedan 4A/T is selling for now.
