If you flip through the user manual.. the recomended run in period is 1600Km leh. (if i remembered correctly) but according to my SE, Latio usually runs in ~ abt 6-7K km.. that's when you will see the FC stable and if there are workmanship issues the squeaks and creaks will surface.

6000km!!! thats a lot leh... 2nd servicing liao.....
for those who dont drive a lot.. really will take 3-5mths to hit that value leh
hmm run-in is 1600km.. not 1000km meh???

Yup 1600 KM or 1000 miles, refer to page 5-2 of owner's manual. or refer to attached ::)

I did my 1K servicing..
Tried ramming abit more but cannot feel any pickup...
just more engine noise only.. :weep:
-
i do agree with you .. i feel the same thing tooo..
Good for stable drive =>induce passenger to zzz haha
Pickup only more pronounce when after 50km/h leh (i feel)
-
I think its quite alright to rev abit higher after the 1k km run-in...but I only drive into JB or further after my 5k km run-in as usually will hit abt 140km/h on the NSHW... ;)

Errm...... for me hor i tried another method which is to whack my engine from day 1 collection at intervals and drive at different rpm during the first 1k period but engine must be fully warm up at least 5mins driving after the engine cold blue light gone. highest i went was 4.5krpm. so far my mileage is now almost 7k engine feels smooth and strong enough and getting 15km/litre on 70%hw30%city driving and mind u i am still on the free mineral oil supply by tan chong. 10k service will try amsoil synthetic oil and that should easily give me 1 km extra per litre. Also check out this controversial engine break-in site http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Very interesting website bro...so did you try out some of the advice for your engine? :confused1:
-
I tried on some of the advice from that website but not all cos mine is cvt and very hard to reach full throttle. if manual i think more easy bah. Come to think of it i follow more to advice given by the following site http://cruxoil.com/files/Converting_to_AMSOIL_and_Breaking_in_a_New_Engine.pdf

I rather believe the Tan Chong manual rather than some unknown website regarding break-in.
If you redline during break-in period, then could have got a test drive car and save at least $1,500.

Hehe 1 more interesting thing i found out from Tan Chong service engineer when i went for my first 1k service which i ask him on breaking in tips and u know what he told me? The most important is to warm up ur engine and whack it!The rest he advice me was almost exactly like what i read in that mototune webby! If i dun remeber wrongly i heard him say that break in advice on the manual was same as 10yrs ago for nissan cars not relevant now already.

Perhaps the Tan Chong service engineer hopes your engine dies an early death and you will then purchase another Nissan :bleh: ;D

Haha also another good reason to buy a new car :D just like the NETS advertisment :yehyeh: but have to wait untill warranty up than can buy mar.....if not like what u say i can redline it everyday until it break down and get a brand new engine by the warranty!!

Hehe u better hope the service standard is *that* good.. that they give u a new engine, not just take some part go and repair and give you.
