My car slightly more than a year old and did not encounter this problem. I can still unlock/lock my car from 11th storey of my HDB flat (line of sight between Ikey and car).

Have you noticed a "shortening of distance" to lock/unlooad when using your IKey? If yes, may consider a battery change on Ikey. Else, complain to TCM to get the components checked.

Hi,

Happens to me when I put my handphone in the same pocket as my iKey.
It was worse with a pager (back 3 years ago).

Somehow the radio frequency might be interfering with the iKey.

Me too... when the 2 things are put together, i cant open my car door!!

I read it in the manual that says that radio frequency from phones can interfere with the radio frequency of th i-key. so i put them in separate pockets. :-)

RFID Frequencies from the Esso and Mobil petrol kiosk is also causing lots of jamming to our I-key.

Yes, mindman. There is no obstruction (ie clear line of sight).

cheers,

my car is only 10 day old  :D. guess alot of you had encounter this problem. is it possible that stuff like a plastic cover will block the ikey operation  :confused1:

Most likely your IKEY battery is weak. Well I guess your 10 days old car is using an old battery; or your stock IKEY is in the warehse a long time.

Does the ikey console light blink when you just start your engine? Mine flashes and I thought the ikey is faulty but actually it's low batt warning signal.

i dun think a plastic cover will affect. I put my i-key in the leather pouch provided by tan cheong since day 1. Some times the i-key is placed in my bag (so extra layers of fabric) but there is no issue with the usage

I faced the same problems only recently.  It took me 2 to 3 attempt to lock and unlock the car.  I measured the Ikey battery, the battery still had more than 3 volt in there.  I proceed to change to new battery, the problems did not go away.  My latio is only 6 month old.

I am going to contact TCM ask them to fix the problems.

No wonder I have problem locking my car at Esso.  Have to press door button at least 2 times.

You all lock doors at petrol station? I never do that in SG even if I'm alone, only do that in MY petrol stations. Just switch off engine will do. Don't think anyone will dare to do anything funny in petrol station here.

Yup, better to be safe than sorry... Heard from Cashier Aunty at Holland Rd Esso that got people pump full tanks n just drive off without paying even though petrol kiosks all got CCTV!  :out:

Plus she says these jokers all tend to drive big cars like Jaguars n Merc S class!!!  :out:

So u never know... lots of strange people out there... Be safe!
