MY FC IS REALLY TERRIBLE
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:25:41 PM »
I have recently went to do my 30K but each time after servicing my FC seems to drop further. In the past I used to achieve about 11.5km/ltr but now it is about 10.5km/ltr. My calculation of FC is based on the mileage traveled from the last top up. In the past the top up fuel indicator which normally lights up after 420km (35ltr) traveled, however, this seems to be dropping progressively from 400 to 380km. Each time I bring it in for servicing (Pioneer), complain to the technician about it but they say they can't find anything wrong.  Well obviously something is not right here.  Is there any other way for me to check?

Such a little bit of variation is more likely due to your driving pattern. More jams, more passengers or just faster driving in general can worsen FC. Also, fuel light isn't very accurate.

For me, I always pump petrol myself and top it off to the brim, so I know that it is exactly 45 litres. The next time I top up, I top up to brim again, so I'm 100% sure how much I pump and how far I travel. Could be your calculation error.

Bro, i read somewhere, not very good to fill to the brim. Must leave some space inside the tank for the petrol vapour to "move around". Sorry, this is only what i can remember...

no worries abt dat, when u top up to the brim till the verge of spillin out its ok coz aft the moment u start the engine & move ur car the petrol level will drop. i've seen some cheapskate sillyporeans doin dat in jb hopin to squeeze in every single drop of petrol into their cars.

Doubt if any calculation error cos my basis for calculating the FC is based on the mileage traveled against what I last top up ie 38 litres. In most cases I noticed that the low fuel indicator generally come on after the 35 litre mark. How I know, cos normally i will travel a further 20 to 30 km before topping up so normally it is about 38 to 39 litres depending on how much further i had traveled.
