Shifting to D from when?

If you feel a jerk shifting from park, I have to ask if you park on a slope.

Should be from cold start. From Park to Drive. Think its normal as the rpm suddenly drop. Will not happen if you warm up and wait for the rpm to drop to about 1k.

Yes, cold start rpm is higher, so the drive is stronger.

You oshould always step on the brake when changing gears.

Did you do so?

There should be no jerk.
