Getting an additional keyless control
« on: June 21, 2010, 09:57:38 AM »
Hi, Fellow Lations
I am a newbie car owner and I just bought a 2nd-hand Latio Sedan recently.

I was wondering where I can get an additional keyless control besides getting it from Tan Chong Motors.

Hi marcellim,

I have come across one shop in International Plaza that is able to provision an additional ikey for our latio. The price is more expensive than the price quoted by TCM.

If I am not wrong, TCM quoted $280.

Thank you, bro.

perhaps I will hold back and get it a few months later since this is not urgent.

Just spent quite a bit on the car...did not know of so many hidden costs on owning a car...hehe..

A spare ikey is good to have, not a necessity though.

Agree, bro. By the way, just to share, if you think of duplicating the spare key (not the ikey) outside, you can only open the car door but can't start the engine.

This is because the car will need to sense the presence of the embedded micro-chip in the spare key in order for the ignition to be triggered.

y need to have 2 ikey? i got a spare one but never use it at all and it's always in my locker. If u wanna use it as a spare, jus having the key to open up the door and start engine would do isnt it, not as though u always use yr spare key la. Unless sharing car with yr spouse or loved ones, den i think having 2 sets of the ikey would b good.
