Want to buy a Latio. Need advice
« on: March 07, 2008, 10:20:53 PM »
Hi all,

It has been a long while since I last owned a Nissan (March).  I don't even remember now when I bought it... in 1999?

Right now, I am actually looking to buy a car for my wife.
Important criteria are (most impt to least)
a) fuel efficient (bcos the daily travelling is at least 45km)
b) affordable
c) comfortable
After looking around, have more or less zoomed down to Latio.  (Swift was close to my choice as well).
Also a 2nd hand one would be desirable.

Among the various models (basic, premium, sports), which would be best suited for the above criteria?  What would be a good price tag for the model (based on depreciation)?  If going to pay in full, what would be the likely monthly cost (include depreciation, petrol, insurance, service. Exclude car park and ERP)?  Reason asking this is that my wife is spending $50 a day on taxi fare!

Appreciate all advice given. Thanks.

Also, if you are thinking of letting go your Latio, do drop me a PM.

Hi Latio is a good car as I can say, this is my first car also.

For the basic , premium or sport is by to your own need. It is just a bit different only.

For me I am a family man, so I need the boot space for my baby thing. As for 4A/T or CVT is almost the same, but the price differerce think is abt 2 K.

Not only comfortable and affortable the most important is the Fc, cause now a days petrol is increasing like hell.

So in long term ,it is still very worth it to buy the car.

Bro, I am having latio sedan CVT.

1. The space is perfect (I am fat), maybe it will be spacious for other lation  :bleh: even the rear seat has good comfy.

2. FC is good, I get 1 L = 14.3kM abt 40% city drive. I drive abt 50km aday
Total damage for maintainence/ petrol/ car loan/ road tax/ ERP/ parking / season parking abt $1100/mths. Still way below cab fare $50/day rights?

3. Other then the less responsive pick up, all other items are okie.

Yeah Bro i would agre with he say bro....me also sedan premium...just had my 2nd servicing till now this baby still perfect for me  :yehyeh: really suit for family car concept due to its spacious, the touch of fine finishing for such ride is consider on high end plus the FC also relatively good depending on your ride but overall i would give this baby a 8/10 for a relax comfort

Thanks for all the comments so far!
I am now looking for a good price for the car now.
Most likely going to sedan 4AT or CVT due to its lower price.

If you have friends or relatives wanting to trade-in their latio for a new car, pls do let me know.  Will be a win-win deal for both parties!

What's your budget?  How old car you looking for?  Any particular colour?

The only cons that I know of is :

1) Sluggish pickup, but can be rectify with mods.
2) Cornering unstable. Can be rectify by low profile tire, and assemble strut bar. Illegal mod can lower suspension.

Why you want to buy latio  :confused1:

It's just have only:

Good FC
Comfortable Interior
Long legroom
Plascluster aircon that clean and remove odour
Easily overspeed if you don't look at the speedometer
Built in Tweeter
Reasonable quiet inside

Other than the above, I can't understand why you want to buy latio   :cool2:

Latio is a good car, its my first car too.

you will find no short of benefits here, i shall list out my few dislike of the car for you to judge objectively.

- soft suspension, very uncomfortable when you are driving on roads which are not so smooth
- slow pickup/acceleration during slope (imagine those flyover expressway), for normal road it is ok!

but do keep a check on the prices, as it fluactuate quite widely.. i see pple getting a CVT premium at 60k one month back but now i think it cost $64k..

Any age between 1 to 2 years old ranging between $40k to $44k.
Preferably non-black or non-white.  But really does not matter so long price is good
Must be auto though.
Am I asking for too much?  :confused1:

Tweeter is a small round speaker like usually mounted on top of the dashboard for more surround sound effect.
