Keyless Entry
« on: April 19, 2008, 02:08:10 PM »
We have the keyless entry to unlock the door and start the car engine. Just curious, if the engine is already started with the keyless system, would the car be able to drive away by someone without our 'key' ? Or the engine will stall after travelling for a distance ?

Lately have been finding the keyless sensor getting weaker that gotta stand damn near to the door in order for me to lock / unlock man...(viturally less than 10cm touching the door liao).....dunno whether could be due to battery problem but mine less than 6mths man....anyone encounter this as well???......

I think the car can only be driven for a distance when the key is not found within car, as you can see the the key LED keep blinking when key is not inside...

have to try it out though, heehee... lets do it at one of the monthly meetup...

Ya. I would also think that our keyless entry is only to ignite the engine system. Once engine starts, our key no use already. The LED displayed only showed that our key is not around, would have no effect on the engine.

Wonder if other luxurous cars have the true imobilizer ie even if engine started, no key also cannot drive.

How long were you away?  Was there anyone in the car while you were away?  If so, did it happen that that person off engine for you for whatever reason?
