omg.... just received my AIG renewal...
more EX than last year!
last year total : $1826.75
renewal total: $1981.04  :scared:

siao one!
some more its after the 15% off peak car discount + 10% NCD discount!!!!

i am seriously looking out for other quotes to compare now...
requesting from MSIG and also insurance brokers.....

 :glare:

sis, lady premium is lower coz they think lady will drive slower (it is ok for them if other people bang you as you dont bang other people)

if younger than 26 premium will be high.

Newer car premium high, sport car also high.

I am at $700~$800/yr zone now. 1st party, appointed workshop only.

by the way, this is a piece of information I found out while sourcing for quotations.

Last year AIG quoted me about $1.5++ initially, then afterwards called me to say the Premium will be different and higher cos my car is SPORTS version. SO i ******** say ok .... ended up paying $1650+++ .. means about one hundred plus more!!

Found out from other insurance such as AXA and MSIG that our car not considered SPORTS even though the name states LATIO SPORTS... as long as engine capacity is same for the sedan/saloon version it's not sports!

grrr kena conned......

These insurance companies are downright dirty.

Sports version is just a name given to a model with added body kits. It has the same engine as the non Sports version, so I don't understand how it can carry a greater risk.

Just collected my car, AIG's assess is $600 now? Thought is $500? My SE said they (AIG) just revised since March 2008, can anyone verify that?

That is very HIGH premium.

Are you in the early 20s age group?

26 years old with 5 years of driving experience. I still think it is ridiculous for such a high premium for a 1.5 cc vehicle. Anyway while sourcing around for quotes, as what wave mentioned, some insurance companies even dare to say that the reason why so high premium is because its LATIO SPORTS version. What nonsense........

My friend was quoted $1750 for Tan Chong AIG insurance earlier this year.

He is 30 and have not driven since he got his driving license 7 yrs ago.

He declined the AIG insurance and opted for EQ insurance instead. He paid only $1250 with $500 excess based on 0% NCD.

My insurance expiring in Sept...AIG sent me a renewal notice for 2.1K (i paid only 1.7K last yr). I asked them why so expensive they told me because increase in premium across the board...i lazy to check so just sent them a cheque. After two weeks no reply from them i called up to check they told me my premium increased to 2.3K now so cannot process. I was so pissed off that i called them to demand an explanation. After talking to them for two days then i managed to iron out all the issues. In the end they say my premium should be only 1.8K.

I totally lose confidence in the way that AIG works...they refuse to give me the contact no. of their claims and underwriting dept. All calls must go thru their service hotline and the people from the service hotline can only answer basic questions based on whatever that is entered into the system by the underwriters and claims dept. Everytime i call them they tell me someone will check and call me back but i never get any calls from them. Worse thing is everytime i call the service hotline person tell me a different premium cos they are just reading from the system!! I only got confirmation from them today that 1.8K should be by premium...and there's only 2 days before my insurance expire. Somemore nobody from AIG bothered to contact me when they increase the premium and the renewal application that i sent was not successful. Totally unprofessional....!!

I am still waiting for an official explanation from AIG on what caused the delay. Those of u who are renewing your insurance better get some quotes early...dun be like me...lazy thought just pay and renew with current one.

To avoid being caught in such a situation, I had suggested in an earlier post to source for the best quote from an insurance agency. Let them do the leg work for you.

Sigh...my case is a complicated one...due to the accident that i have, AIG increased my loading and remove my NCD ( even though i did not make any claims) but they never commuicate that to me and the increase was not stated in the renewal letter sent in Sept even though the accident happened in June...Called their service line but nobody can advise me on what is happening.

Even if i get another quote from other insurers i wouldn't have been able to get an accurate quotation cos NCD is carried over from one insurer to another...so morale of the story..make sure u understand why they are increasing the premium...dun just accept what the helpline tells u...like Wave was sharing...some of the reasons can be rather absurb...(higher premium for lation sports??)

Just got a call from AIG ...they just kept on saying that the delay in renewal is caused by delays from the claims side as they need time to investigate the case and close it...I told them a hundred times that i understand that ....i just want to understand why they never pro-actively inform me of the changes and instead i have to call their helpline for days to get an idea of what is happening to my renewal and premium. Somemore everytime i call got different story and premium...really fustrating...will definitely check out those cheap insurance..since expensive one doesn't seem to be any better...

FYI i also called NTUC...asked for a quotation for their Premium insurance (allow repair at own workshop ) and they quoted me 2k with 10% NCD...if i compare with what AIG is offering now (1.8K )they are more expensive...if u take the normal one (appointed workshop) its 1.7K slightly cheaper than AIG..

Looks like we must die die discontinue with AIG...

My premium with AIG last yr was $1.9k, expiring on 28th Nov. Although they havent send me any renewal, i guess it will be higher.

i have since ask from quote from the followin companies - i think i will sign up with OAC..

MSIG $15++ (this one got free $100 petrol vouchers)
OAC (Great eastern) $1500
RSA $19++
NTUC 19++
