Better to avoid Malaysia petrol especially those near the boder as there has been many reports of the petrol being mixed with Kerosene.

Meaning those that near JB's checkpoint and 2nd link area? Or only JB's area?

Hm.mm.m.....I tot pumping lower grade of petrol means there are more impurities in the petrol which in term means tat ur engine will be dirty faster??:confused1: :confused1:

I have heard about this "hear-say" from petrol attendants too, but the fuel filter in your car will prevent any impurities from flowing through to your fuel injector.

How about those in USA who pump 87RON petrol?

Did TCM explain why Latio not advisable to pump 92RON?

I thought since owner manual states min 91RON, should be no problem to pump 92RON.
I didn't ask. Am going for servicing this Wed at Bukit Timah. Will check with them.

Just curious, any guys here have pumped RON92 before?

Me pumped 92 from SPC when petrol price went thru the roof earlier this year.. been used abt 4 tanks before switching to caltex for more discount.. no issues lah.. just that 92 pick up slower..step oil car take it's own sweet time to pick up.

Jazz just said whether pump 92, 95 or 98RON got no difference.

Quote from Jazz
"Why some claimed that 92 has no power, in fact is the same, it just a mindset that 92 is cheaper therfore 1 tend to step more for power, it doesn't contribute to FC for RON ratings. Example, do you feel more energetic drinking Starbuck coffee to kopitiam coffee ?"

No worry, eversince I switch from riding motobikes to cars, no more filling up in JB liao. No offense to Malaysian, although cheaper but just feel uncomfortable.

Hello LatioR,
Nope, I dun find you silly, you cared for your car.  :D

Same thing if you can afford, everyday you can drink Starbuck instead of kopitiam coffee.

You also Malaysian ?

Hi Jazz, thanks for thr advise. For me, normal coffee sb more than enough for me (for sure not from starbuck). Will try 95 then. When u mentioned u also Malaysian, u can't simply a Malaysian as u seem like not really well verse in malay lei..me, yes (been working in Singapore for > 12yrs, home town Penang)

Hi all there, any station from JB or 2nd links been bad listed by u, do share with all lei..Only heard my friend complain > 11 yrs ago when he has to push this 400cc Honda blade due to petrol with mixture of wafer/kerosene (he suspect)..

the panda really make me tao kongkong!

I got the car in September, tried 3 tanks of M'sia V-power near border, all 3 tanks gave me 10.2km/L, 10.5km/L, 10.7km/L, not sure why also. Perhaps the petrol really kena mixed  :crying:

then I tried SPC 95 for next 3 tanks, my FC becomes 12.1km/L, 12.7km/L 13.2/L. My driving style always the same, no hard revving or wild overtaking.

If RON92 really wun spoilt the engine, then might as well save the $. A penny save is a penny earned...

Hello iagree,

Caltex only use Silver, Gold & Premiums as their RON grade, no numeric leh.

Caltex Silver = 95RON
Caltex Gold =  98RON
Caltex Platinum (Equivalent to Shell V Power) = 98RON

Hope this clarifies.

Hi DarthRevan

I cannot pump other fuel, coz i got 15% discnt from Caltex (corporate Starcard). No choice to compare.

What i can compare is SG Caltex (cheapest fuel, Silver?) vs Msia ESSO F1.

After i chg my tyres to GR80, i thk my FC hit abt 10km/L or slightly lower than 10km/L, very SIONG!

Regards.
